Birth story

    Heya gals!
    Most already know of the struggle to deliver with minimal medical intervention, will go from there :)

    The doc broke Patrick's water about noonish, I was 3cm dilated still just 50% effaced. Started feeling some really painful contractions around 3pm, got checked and I was at a 5. Called for the epidural, by the time she showed up and put it in, I was at a 7, it was now after 5pm. Felt like minutes later but it was 6pm already, the nurse checked me again and I was at a 10 with baby's head right there!! LOL She looked so startled, told me not to do anything, I got the giggles at that. Felt a lot of pressure, then suddenly there were people everywhere (apparently I was strange and unusual for refusing a c-sec and for carrying till 39+ weeks) and I was being rushed to the OR. My poor scared OB God bless her, had contacted a colleague who was very comfortable with breech births and she was freaking out that he wouldn't make it in time. She kept her hand on baby's head and kept telling me to wait, just wait :). The doc waltzed in at 6:12, Patrick was born at 6:13pm! Katherine's water stayed intact and her heartrate was just fine. They tried to turn her but she was stubborn so the doc went ahead and broke her water. Suddenly loads of painful pressure and I hear my husband asking "what's that?" "That" was Katherine's bum! I could tell my OB was about to panic but her friend was like "whatever". He calmly stepped up and told me to push with everything I had at the next contraction. I found some inner strength I didn't know I had and at 6:26pm Katherine was born butt first and pooped on my OB on her way out :laughing: I had a first degree tear that only required one stitch. I felt amazingly well, happy and pretty darn proud.

    So in summary, on 01/14/2010 Patrick LLoyd was born at 6:13pm, 6lbs15oz 19inches long, perfect apgar score. Katherine Alexandra was born at 6:26pm, 6lbs9oz 19.5inches long, perfect apgar score. We all came home on the 16th, just after noon. Thanks for all the incredible support gals, couldn't have done it without you.

    Congrats! I'm glad everything went well for you, I hope to have a vaginal delivery as well so it is nice to read success stories like yours!!

    Congrats! Looks like your little girl decided to tell your OB what she thought about her opinion on a surgical delivery! :) Beautiful names and way to go!
