Birth Story - Oskar and Ruby are here!

I finally have time to write my birth story!! I can't believe that I made it to the other side I had an unscheduled C-section on April 2nd and Oskar Theodore and Ruby Adeline arrived into this world at 36w4days!! They were both very healthy and they were able to come home with my DH and I!! Oskar was 6pds9oz and Ruby was 5pds9oz.
I had been in the hospital for 5 hours on April 1st as my platelet count had gone down again (I was having trouble with it for a bit at that point). The doctor on-call stated that he didn't like the way that looked plus I had bloating in my legs and my blood pressure was climbing. He said that it seemed that I was heading towards preclampsia. So..he called a high-risk doctor for a consult and they decided that I should have a C-section on the 4th or 7th of April.
With that, I went home and had appts to go back to the hospital for constant checks until the 4th.
Well..I went home. Went to sleep. I finally got to sleep as I hadn't been able to sleep for a long time due to PUPPS. That was the WORST thing I have ever been through. I had it for a couple of weeks and it was ****. It's like poison ivy x100 and nothing takes the itch away. Oh my gosh...the good thing is that it DOES go away after birth. Mine went away in about a week. Dried up like poison ivy and stopped itching.
Anyway..I finally fell asleep on the 1st. Around 4AM on the 2nd, I woke up. I sat up and knew then that my water had broke!!!!!! It took a bit for it to click into my mind what was happening!!
I called the doctor on-call (still the same doctor I saw the day before!!). He said..c'mon back in..sounds like this is it!
I woke my husband and off we went to the hospital. My contractions started to get a bit worse during the drive (about a half an hour to the hospital) and my water began coming out more with the contractions. Thank goodness I put on a pad and I put a towel done on the seat in the car!! (sorry if TMI..but it's part of the fun
Got to the hospital and they did an ultrasound and Ruby was still breech so we went along with the C-section.
I was in the OR at 8:00 AM and Oskar was born at 8:36 AM and Ruby was born at 8:38 AM!!
It was absolutely amazing. And when I heard them cry..it was the most beautiful thing in the world. I had to wait until I recovered to really see them. It's just absolutely amazing. The whole thing. I still look at them and can't believe that these little beings were the little ones that were growing inside me for 9 months!!
I have to say..it's been a bit rough..adapting to having twins. I had a couple of days at around one week that were pretty depressing. Post partum is VERY tough. Whew..plus coming off the drugs they give you for pain from the C-section and just getting back on my feet from the C-section plus trying to adapt to being a parent of twins!! My DH and his MIL and my Mom have been amazing as they help out all the time. Make sure you line up as much help as possible. It's really important to get through the first weeks as you are recovering from birth. You NEED to have time for yourself and get away. Make sure someone can look after the little ones for a feeding and have someone take you for a drive. Just to get out of the house. It will help keep you sane
I finally am getting used to little sleep and a routine is beginning to take shape at 2 and half weeks. The little ones are gaining weight and all is going pretty darn well.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the support during this pregnancy. It was wonderful to have you all here to vent to and ask questions.
