birth story -my boys are here!

Hi everyone,
I've come up for air, finally, but just for a few minutes.

My birth story goes like this. I had a C scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5. At 3:30 a.m. I woke up with contractions, waited an hour, woke DH, then called the doctor. We agreed I should make my way to the hospital, but didn't need to race. We were leisurely for about another half an hour, then my contractions became unbearable painful and it became a race. Marcella heard our commotion, woke up and said "Why didn't you go to sleep last night?" I said, "Hold on, honey, Mommy needs to breathe through this contraction."

We called our neighbor and Rich walked Marcella over to their house, for them to bring her to daycare. Then, we raced to the hospital.

When I finally convinced them that they needed to do an internal check, and not just glance at the monitors, I was 4 cm. 45 minutes later, my doctor checked me, and I was at 8. Baby A (Alex) was breech, so there was much shouting "She's 8 cm and the baby is breech!" as they rushed me into OR at 8:30. They administered the spinal and it all happened so fast that at 8:47 and 8:48 Alex and Evan emerged, absolutely healthy and perfect!

Here are the stats:

Alex, 6 lbs and 12 oz
Evan, 7 lbs and 5 oz

Both are doing well, except they aren't that interested in eating, so we're struggling with that right now.

I am feeling really good. When I have more time and the question is asked again, I will have a lot of opinions about vaginal versus C-section. Bottom line: giving birth is a chore, as is the recovery and I am so happy that I am done with that phase! But it's all worth it because I have my daughter and sons and they are the most wonderful gifts in the world.
