I posted awhile ago asking about PreE. Well last weekend since my BP had gone down some and I was feeling great, I went to my children's Saturday event. It was really hot and the air conditioning stopped working, but I stayed anyway. On Sunday, I started not feeling well again. But my sisters were exchanging posts on that day to help me out. I had two of my sisters and 7 children in my house. I figured it was just stress from all of that. I took my BP. Though it was back up, it hadn't increased above past levels.

As one sister left Monday morning unlike other mornings, my swelling hadn't decreased overnight. As the day wore on, I began to feel worse and worse. I called the docs office to say I was going to L&D to be checked. They had me come into the office instead and THEN sent me to the hospital to be admitted for observation. My BP continued to creep up and the 24 hour urine showed mild preeclampsia. It was after the u/s with the peri that they decided to take the babies on Wednesday. I do not know what he saw on the u/s, but he said it was time.

As it was a C-section, the delivery itself was pretty uneventful. I remember being terrified that the girls wouldn't start breathing. Maddy was born first. She cried instantly and I felt such a huge sigh of relief. She weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19 1/4 in long. Micky came next and didn't make a sound. I nearly panicked, but then heard a slap. Someone said... ah her first spanking and then there was a LOT of crying coming from her :) She was 6 lbs even and 19 1/4 in.

Even though Maddy cried first, she still had some grunting and gurgling going on. So she went on CPAP to the NICU. She was on it for 5 hours before going to room air. She could have been moved to newborn nursery with her sister, but they apparently do not do that at this hospital. I was told that once admitted to NICU, they stay there until discharge.

They both have ABO/jaundice issues and are still in the hospital under bili lights. This is something totally unrelated to multiples or early delivery. I had two other children who were singletons and full term deal with this. So I am not really counting it as an issue anyone here has to deal with. Just letting you know they are still at the hospital without each other or their mommy :(

My recovery was probably the most eventful part of it all. I do not remember them transferring me out of OR. I only had a spinal for crying out loud. I remember bits and pieces of the recovering room. I remember looking at the moniters and seeing that my heartrate was in the 30s with occassional dips into the 20s. This was before my BP started to rise and rise. I saw once it was 190ish/110ish. DH said I had apnea spells that would send the nurses running. Then they put me on mag sulfate (horrible drug). I was in recovery for quite a while.

My BP seemed to stablize once back in my room and I was VERY glad to get off the mag. However the swelling we thought was bad before was nearly unbelievable after. I had pitting edema from mid ribs down. They were very concerned about the fluids spilling into my lungs or stressing my heart. Fortunately those things didn't occur.

By Sunday, I appeared stable and came home :) It seemed though as soon as I got home, my BP was up again. I got a script for procardia yesterday. My BP this morning was still 162/98. My swelling is gradually going down now. But the headaches aren't fun.

Anyway, babies are generally healthy. I am not overly concerned with their jaundice just because I know how it all goes with this particular type. I am sad I didn't get to bring them home right away. But partially glad they are there as I wouldn't be able to sit and do nothing if they were home. I do not want to get sicker and not be able to care for them properly.

Try to get some rest, keep drinking water, water, water and keep your feet up as much as possible (even at night with some pillows under the mattress where your feet are).

:birthday: little ones, they are precious!! Take care of yourself mamma, pay attention to the swelling. I had pitting adema from my belly down and ten days post op I was readmitted for congestive heart failure. My heart rate was in the 30's as well. I'm sure you will be fine just rest while the babies are still there even though I know you can't stand being away from them. Congratulations!! :hug99:

Beautiful babies, Congrats! I had to leave mine for a few days after I went home and just those few days were so depressing and emotional. Im sorry you have to go through that too. I too just tried to be positive and know they are in there to be sure they come home healthy and well. Ill pray you get them home soon.

Just wanted to let you know I was discharged with a BP of 170/100 (delivered at 34 weeks 6 days due to PIH) and went on procardia till my 4 week check up. At that appointment my OB took me off the procardia and had me come back a week later for a BP check. It was finally back to normal! Hope you're feeling better. The twins are beautiful :D
