Birth Announcements

I need your opinion... Is it too late for me to do birth announcements for my LO's? They just turned 4 months old last week. We had them baptised a couple of weeks ago, which most family attended. So I was just wondering, should I still send out birth announcements, or is it now a mute point? I feel like such a bad mommy for not doing birth announcements, but they were in NICU for 6 weeks, and I didn't get their newborn pics done till they were 3 months old (I wanted them both off of the oxygen). Time is just passing me by!

 

I would still send them out. My boys were in the NICU for a month and I think we sent ours out about a month after they came home. It was Oct. though and I wanted to get them out before our Christmas cards. Do you send Christmas cards? If you want to save money, you could turn your Christmas card into a birth announcement.

 

I would still send them out, they are still pretty young! Especially if they were in the NICU, everyone will understand! Now if they were 2 years old I would probably say it's too late. But 4 months old is not too late IMO.

 

I don't think it's too late at all. People will understand that you've been a bit busy!

 

I've always heard up to 6 months as a general rule of thumb for birth announcements...or perhaps I made that up. I would say you're fine sending them now.

I say send them!! My boys were in the NICU for 11 weeks and then I think it took me at least another 5 to get them out!!

 

I'm so glad you asked this question. I'm in the same boat. My girls will be 3 months on wednesday. I'm getting their first professional pics done in a week or so. I have been debating whether to send out announcements or not since they will be about 4 months by the time i can get them out. But from everyone's response I think after their professional ones are done I will get them together too.
