BIG surpise at the Docs

So, we did IVF back in March and had our first post-pregnancy ultrasound at the clinic a couple of weeks ago. They confirmed twins at that time. The doc wanted me to come back today because he wanted to research what the scoop was on this blob (for lack of a better word) was in the uterus... they had put in two embryos and both took, so thought it might be some sort of small bleed or fluid sac or something. he didn't seem too concerned - more perplexed and just wanted to check it out.

SO... fast forward to today. There's a THIRD heartbeat!!! It's like it came out of nowhere... the doc and I swear that there was nothing there two weeks ago but the sac. Just so weird. So, anyway - the two identical twins (which are what we saw before) are developing GREAT. This third one is a bit behind - slightly behind in growth and quite a bit lower in heartbeat (128 versus 150-165 for other two). So, we're a little concerned at it's development.

I don't even know what to think at this point. I'm off to a radiologist next week - I think that's what the ultrasound specialists are... I saw him with my previous pregnancies - hoping he can provide more detail on this 3rd one and then I go back to the fertility doc in a week.

I'll say it again... I'm in shock! I was really settling in to the idea of having twins (and loving the TS forum!) and now it seems I'll be modifying those expectations/plans!
