Big difference in fetal movement?

I've noticed this ever since we first saw our twins on the 12w ultrasound: Baby A is far more active than Baby B, and B's movements (now that I can feel them) are generally much weaker. What makes it a little weirder is that in terms of their placenta positioning, Baby B's movement should actually be easier to feel. (Incidentally, A's heartbeat is also almost always about 10bpm faster than his brother's, and they move up and down together--they'll be 172 and 163, then 145 and 134, then 157 and 146, etc.)

I saw this movement difference on the u/s at 16w, 20w, and 22w, as well.

I started feeling fetal movement at 19w and at first, I did feel B more, but now I consistently feel A move pretty frequently throughout the day, and his kicks are really strong, big enough that I can easily see my stomach moving. I feel B maybe 1/5 as often as Baby A, and his movements are a lot softer. The babies are in the exact same position as each other, too.

Anyhow just wondering if this is normal or not. I know if I were having a singleton I wouldn't have thought much about it because I'd have no basis for comparison, so just wondering how your multiples compare(d). I know by a certain point you're supposed to feel a certain number of kicks per hour; with Baby B, I only feel him maybe 3 or 4 times throughout the day (sometimes just one little movement, sometimes for 10-20 mins at a time). Should I be feeling him more at 25 weeks?

I will ask my OB at the next appt on the 17th but just wanted to hear other MOMs' experience.

WITH MY B/G GIRL TWINS IT WAS TOTALLY NORMAL AND THE DOCTOR ALWAYS TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY. I WOULD FEEL LITTLE BOY KICK, MOVE AROUND AND HICCUP LIKE CRAZY AND SOMETIMES DIDN'T FEEL LITTLE GIRL IT SEEMED LIKE FOR ENTIRE DAYS.

IT'S FUNNY, B/C LITTLE BOY STILL GETS KICKING HIS LEG AND IS MORE ENERGETIC - HE ALSO GOT THE HICCUPS A LOT MORE OUT OF THE WOMB TOO. LITTLE GIRL WAS JUST QUIET AND MELLOW WHEN SHE WAS BORN AND FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS - ALL SHE WANTED TO DO WAS SLEEP - PERFECTLY HEALTHY BUT SHE JUST WANTED SLEEP. NOW AT 7 MONTHS SHE IS JUST AS ACTIVE AND WILD AS HER BROTHER.

ANYHOW, MY POINT IS, I REMEMBER WORRYING ABOUT THAT TOO AND EVERYTHING WAS JUST FINE. YOUR BABIES HEARTBEATS SEEM NORMAL AND IF YOUR DOCTOR HASN'T MENTIONED ANY CONCERNS I'M SURE ALL IS FINE.

ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR PREGNANCY!!!

I had this with Max & Lily. I felt Lily kick and hiccup daily, plus see her move my tummy as she shifted and very rarely felt Max unless he kicked my cervix. He was twin A, closer to the exit per my OB, lol and farther down. Once they were born Max kicks like crazy and Lily gets the hiccups all the time. Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy.

Totally normal!!! When I was pregnant I had one baby that was in the same position the only real movement I felt from him was hiccups and the occational kick. My daughter was constantly moving up and down, changing positions, and trying to push her brother out of the way. Even from our first ultrasound I could see her flailing around in there. Have fun! Enjoy the little time for sleep you have left!

Mine were always different. Baby B is a boy and he was always so much more active inutero and still is. I wouldn't feel my little girl very much. I always worried too but their heartrates were always fine. It was just harder to feel her due to positioning and she was always calmer. This is still true she is calmer and more exact in her movements, my little guy is always moving and hates to nap because he doesn't want to miss anything. As long as their heartrates are good and you do feel movements I wouldn't worry. GL.

Jake and Gabe (A&B) were soooooo different in utero, and are exactly the same out of utero as they were IN utero...soooooo different! I remember telling Eric that I didn't know when Gabriel slept, as he was always bouncing, jumping and kicking in utero...now, at 8 months old, he is a JUMPING BEAN!!!! If a man is hold him on his lap, Eric always warns to watch out for the GOODS!!! (LOL). And Eric jokes that Gabe can't sit still...he remembers now and UNDERSTANDS what I was talking about during those nine (okay...really only 7 1/2) months of pregnancy! Jake stayed in one position for almost the entire pregnancy from 19 weeks on or so...head lodged in cervix, neck back....and guess what...the boy can sit in your lap, just holding your finger for HOURS (of course, watching tv)....and can't STAND being put to "sleep" in his swing because he can't "throw" his head back.

    Just my experience...

My DD was head down and her placenta was in the back, so I felt her constantly. She moved all the time...and now she moves constantly and never sits still. My DS was breech and his placenta was in the front, so I felt him very little. There would be days when I wouldn't feel him even once. On the u/s he would be moving all around, and I would tell the tech that I couldn't even feel him. He was very quiet during my pregnancy, and he is like that now, he loves to sit on your lap and just watch everything. Both babies personalities match their activity level when I was pregnant. The movement with twins is very different then a singleton (I've experienced both) so try not to worry to much.

I had this too. Eli was a wild man, and Mark was always gentle and calm.

My baby B was always moving - I called him "Busy Benny.". Baby A I would worry about, because it seemed like long stretches would go by without movement. It's still that way, and they are 9 months old. Ben can't stay still for more than a few seconds; he is all over his crib at night. AJ still is often happy laying in one spot, playing quietly; he CAN move, but he likes to lay around. Even in utero, my boys had very different personalities!

Interesting! Thanks so much for your responses. Good to know this is normal. :) I just wasn't sure what I should be feeling!
