12 week NT scan today. Two beautiful little bodies and two healthy hearts measuring exactly 12 weeks. So happy and relieved. It is just amazing what you can see so early. We had a wonderful radiologist (not a tech!) who walked us through everything we were looking at and gave us lots of glossy photos and a dvd to take away. Yay!

Anyone else have their scan this week?

Congrats! I have my second ob appt. on Thursday, but I'm not sure if there are any plans of doing an NT scan.

  6. I just had my 5th scan...My kids have been tracked since I was 2 weeks preggers and I swear my OB just got the ultrasound because boy does he love to use it. I'm 15 weeks now and both babies are already 4 inches and 1/4 of a lb. I was really hoping to see little wee wee's or pee pee's, but no luck. In 1 week from today, we're going to the MFM to get a 4-d scan and the appt setter told me it was to "check for fetus anatomy." Yay!

I had my appt. today! I'm measuring 16.5 weeks and I'm actually 13 weeks and three days. I heard the beats. Baby A is in the 150's and Baby B is in the 160's! I'm so excited!

It is amazing what they see now! My u/s tech said she's been doing this for 11yrs and in that time its AMAZING how the machines have become so much 'MORE" of everything!

  11. I had my 16 week ultrasound with Maternal Fetal Medicine on Friday. I have some great news and some scary news. Good news is I'm having BOYS :) The first baby didn't want to show us the goods but the second gave it away and since they're identical, boys it is. They're big for twins- 5 and 6 inches. They were both moving up a storm and appear to have all their organs functioning and healthy....

I saw the look on the ultrasound tech's face-a look I'm all too familar with. I knew for some reason something was wrong when she was measuring for fluid. Perplexed and head tilted, she stared at the screen more intently than before. When the doctor came in, I asked him...How are their fluid levels? and he mustered up some optimism and said the boys are fine for now. They are however having a hard time sharing their nutrients and are on their way to something called twin-to-twin transfusion....TTTS-an acronym I read just earlier that week in my book...Something the books assured me was VERY rare. I now have to go to the MFM every week to monitor levels and if TTTS does indeed take place, the boys are in serious jeopardy and the options that are before us will be grim and very tough. I'm usually doctor internet-reading every possible scenario ever posted on the world wide web, but at this point I am way too emotional to handle the hard truths of this syndrome.

    Awwww Mama Steph,

First of all, congratulations on the two boys. So sorry to hear about the scary news though. I dont personally know much about TTS and my twins are di-di so we're not really at risk for it, but I think you should chat about this on the main boards. There are so many women who have experienced this and or who are worried about this issue, so I'm sure that you will find loads of support and information. I have even read some posts where they say this is treatable, so please do venture over and talk to some of the other moms.

    Good luck to you.
