So at my OB apt last week I mentioned I have been having a lot of BH contractions lately. When I say a lot probably just a handful a day maybe 10 to 15, give or take.. She said "it's normal, drink water and rest a lot. If you have more than 4 in an hour call.."

I've had a busy last few days, and yesterday I noticed I was having contractions a lot more often. About 3 an hour for a few hours, I drank a big bottle of water and they slowed down. Again today I had probably atleast 1 an hour.

Is anyone else having a lot of BH?! I don't remember having them this early nor this often with my first pregnancy, and I know since this is a twin pregnancy everything is different.. It still just freaks me out.. I go to the Peri on monday morning so I'll talk to him about it too.. I just basically am hoping I'm not alone.. :)

    Thanks!!

I started having them when I was 25 weeks and my doctor said the same thing as yours. :good: If you have any concerns at all, give your doctor a call.

I have been having BH contractions every 3 to 7 minutes for the last 3.5 weeks. When I was first monitored for them, i was admitted to LD and sent home after 6 hours of the same thing and no changes. My doctor says that once your uterus reaches a certain volume, it will just start contracting more frequently but until the babies are ready, they won't become true labor contractions. That's just his opinion though! i hope your peri can make you feel more comfortable!

I have them pretty frequently, too. First time I was admitted to L&D and sent home on Procardia (about 26 weeks). Sometimes mine are as frequent as every 10 minutes or less, but usually not for very long (most days I have 1-2 per hour during the morning/afternoon and then it increases to 4 or so an hour in the evenings). It works for me to get up and walk around if I've been lying/sitting or to lie/sit if I've been up and about. My OB didn't want me to call or come in unless they got to more than 6 per hour.

I am 19 weeks and have been having them daily for 3 weeks now and my doc is comfortable with them occuring as long as I am hydrated and they are not too many with in one to two hours.
She says if they get to be uncomfortable, lay down and rest.

I started having them at 20w. My dr also asked me to call when I had 4 or more/hour. Well, I never did, but by the time I reached 22w, I had them for 3 straight days to the pont wherelying and drinking water no longer helped. I called the dr office and was asked to come the next day. Only to be admitted because the contractions had caused my cervix to dilate and part of the membranes to come thru the cervix. I've been at the hospital ever since, praying and hoping to make it thru the end of August.
I hope I did not scare you. I just want to makesure that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else. So please, listen to your instincts and call your doctor if you have any questions. A lady on another forum I frequent said something I thought was very wise. She said that we tend to forget that BH are contractions after all!
I hope yours let down soon though. I am currently on procardia after being on brethine (pill formof terbutaline) for my 1st 3 weeks.

Me too! Same story, Dr said as long as it wasn't coupled with other signs I was okay. Mine get a close as 10-12 minutes for hours but that's it.

I am 34 weeks so I hope they'll speed up or do something and truth be told they have dilated me to 1 cm. I swear the Monsoon storms here in the desert bring them anew each evening!

Hi AmyH! Have you seen the peri yet today? What did they say? I hope all is well!

I am also very curious because I am 19 weeks today and I think I have been having them pretty regularly for the past week. This may be a silly question but what exactly do they feel like? I never had them with my first pg. What I have been feeling is not pain but my belly will become very hard and I can feel that something is going on. I was having several an hour over the weekend.

Just got home from the Peri.. My cervic is looking good, measured 4.61 cm I believe.. I was sick this weekend with a cold and laid around most of the day yesterday.. They slowed down dramatically by relaxing so much. The peri said it was normal, especially being busy and on my feet alot, and since my cervix looked great I feel at complete ease about it!

The contractions feel just like you described.. Not painful, but my tummy tightens rock hard and it just feels different. Both the Peri and my Ob said to drink a couple glasses of water and just relax (which is easier said than done when you are chasing a 2 year old around!).

    Good Luck!!
