So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)?

How long have you been doing it?

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)

When did you wean (if applicable)?

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?

Ok, we haven't had an update thread for awhile. Let's get one rolling!

    My confession.. err.. update. :D

Evan is still getting breastmilk. As of a week ago, it is delivered in a different fashion though. For some reason that I don't know about, he refused the breast. :( (Dh says he is no son of his!) He screams if I even attempt it. Evan has not been great at bottles and he had a super adversion to it at this time too! :shok: So, for the first day or so I used a medicine dropper/syringe. :( We've had a rough few months here because of colds that just don't go away etc.... This was not something I wanted. But, it's been a week and I am OK with it. I am pumping. I plan on pumping as long as I can. If I think about how I weaned my twins at 25.5 months and Evan refused to even get to 14 months I get a little sad... but in reality this works. It's been hard everytime he gets a cold. We'll be camping in a trailer sometime this summer, and this guy really refuses to nurse in public (or anywhere other than at home). So, this works. He is still getting the good stuff.. just in a different delivery method. I had not planned on weaning this early, but something happened (I am clueless) that made him want to stop. But, is it weaning if I am still giving him my milk? I hate the pump, but it is sooo worth pumping to get him breastmilk.
    So, that is my update.

I am NOT looking forward to camping due to the fact that Evan doesn't sleep anywhere but in his crib! Let's hope he surprises us! LOL

Oh, Jackie! No, I don't think it counts as weaning if you're still making milk and he's still drinking it.

We've been nursing twice a day since about 15 months after weaning down from EBF over three months. I don't have a goal any more, except maybe to stick with this long enough for the boys to give it up first. Their approach to nursing has changed recently, and it's not as relaxing as it used to be (resisting coming up on the pillow when they're invited, just to show me that they're independent. I have to completely ignore them for a couple of minutes before they'll come over. Then Tom sees it as an opportunity to talk non-stop about all of the random - and they are random - things that come to mind. Cute, but DRINK already.)

NOT looking forward to oscillating between struggling to making ends meet and digging my way out of too much work. Maybe this part time contracting thing isn't all it's cracked up to be....

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)?

Right now, nothing! :yahoo: The last baby weaned on April 24th. Currently, Im baking a new baby in the oven that I hope to breastfeed just like the twinkies only easier now that I have some experience :)

How long have you been doing it?
DD bfed for 8 months, although I pumped for her until 13.
    DS weaned at 14 months
    .

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)
My goals always started short and then of course the ultimate goal was 1 year and however long they wanted thereafter. Obviously that was short lived :unknw: .

When did you wean (if applicable)?
    See question above :)

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?
hrmm...well both my mom and sister are coming to visit us. My sister (whose 17 ) for 2 months, and my mom for 2 weeks and while Im grateful for help, Im not looking forward to playing tour guide.
and if this pregnancy continues the way it started Im also not looking forward to morning sickness- ugh! :bad:

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)?

    Still nursing my toddlers. :D

How long have you been doing it?

    See ticker!

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)

I'd like them to nurse a bit less often. They still do ~5x/day, and sometimes it's too much. Not so much the nursing itself, but those @#$% HANDS that don't stop, and the constant on-again-off-again as they bicker with each other and deliver earth-shattering and random proclamations ("When Buxtehude [our cat] purrs, it sounds kind of like a motor!" "See green slide at park!" "Grandma has a butt!") and run off for another stuffed animal or a drink of water. (Yes, apparently you need water breaks while nursing. )

When did you wean (if applicable)?

Still planning to let them wean themselves when they're ready.

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?

Getting Ivy to wear shorts on hot days. She skinned her knees a couple times recently while wearing shorts, and now has a total shorts PHOBIA. She screams if she even sees them. Well, of course: shorts give you boo boos. Very logical.

Jackie, I'm so sorry Evan's giving you such a hard time! And I hope that the camping trip will help him master the skill of sleeping elsewhere!

I EBF for 8 months and started weaning then and was fully weaned by 10 months due to an abscess. Super big bummer.

I am NOT looking forward to hearing "I'm bored" 57 times by day two of school being out. We've actually banned the phrase and if it's heard I issue hardcore chores, but it seems to slip in in other ways (attitude... moping around).

I am still nursing my boys. We're down to 1 time per day at night.

I never thought I would nurse this long, but am enjoying every minute. "Night, night" to them is nursing and it really is cute when they say it.

However, my goal is to wean them within the next month. My husband and I want to go away just for a night here and there this summer and I have been the only one to put the boys down in almost 2 years (except for one episode when one baby was in the hospital).

This summer...I'm not looking forward to weaning them--it's bittersweet--they're my last babies. I'm also not looking forward to ending my 2 year maternity leave and beginning to prepare to return to teaching in September. It's been incredible to be home!!!

I've been exclusively nursing for 10 days... for Spencer, who is baby #6. I EBF babies 1-3, weaning between 15 & 23 months. I EBF Sydney and pumped for Sabrina while also nursing for 4 months, then she got formula as her supplement (one or two 4 oz bottles/day) until a year old. But I nursed them both until about 32-33 months old.

How long have you been doing it?

    --Six months and one week!

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)

--My goal is a year then we'll see... I really enjoy bfing (now) but I also look forward to being able to leave the house without worrying about timing.

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?

--Shoving my boobs in a swimsuit... I miss my "normal" size boobs pre-babies.

You kids sound so cute!! I laughed so hard at this! I may be singing a different song when my boys get older though....

    anyway!

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)?

EBF pretty much from the start.

How long have you been doing it?

9 months on the 10th!! :yahoo:

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)

Oddly enough I've never really set one. But now that you ask, two years.

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?
Wow, so far the plans for this summer are pretty exciting! I get to see all of my brothers for the first time in 12 years! And I get to meet my niece that's named after me! The drive to AZ is going to probably suck though.... But it'll be worth it! I love summer! I miss AZ heat and can't wait to not be cold all the time....

Oh I know what I"m not looking forward too.... I just realized, with all the weight I haven't lost yet, I don't have any summer clothes

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? i'm currently EBF - although, the girls get sippies of whole milk with their solids to practice.

How long have you been doing it? almost 11 months now! wow - in those early weeks i never thought i would make it this far...

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term) definitely till a year & then i'll be partially weaning them as i'm going back to work in the fall. but i'd like to continue nursing in the mornings & before bed for as along as they want to.

When did you wean (if applicable)?

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer? the one thing i wasn't looking forward to was the 9 hour road trip we took last friday, but it went great & the girls did awesome (Danika, however, decided she was DONE about an hour away from our destination & let us know loud & clear). other than that, i think the rest of this summer is going to be awesome!

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? Was pumping/nursing/supplementing until this week. Now I'm just supplementing/nursing in the mornings and evenings.

How long have you been doing it? I had to supplement due to low milk supply, but I pumped and nursed from the beginning and kept it up for almost 10 months.

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term) My "wildest dream" goal when I first got Jack to latch (at 4 months) was to take them through RSV season, which was 9 months. I exceeded that goal!!! Now I'm going to keep up morning and night nursings until my supply runs out. Jack doesn't really want to nurse any more and sometimes refuses, but Nate still loves it!

When did you wean (if applicable)? Hopefully not soon!

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?
Trying to fit into my pre-pregnancy shorts! :shok:

When did you wean (if applicable)?

-----So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)?

The girls EBF and have since the get go. They never liked the bottle idea. I tried to pump in the beggining but gave up when they wouldn't let anyone else feed them.

-----How long have you been doing it?

We have been nursing 11 months. Mostly tandem.

-----What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)

I never per say set a goal. My son weaned himself at 6 months. So this is all new and joy to my breastfeeding resume. I intend to let them self wean.

-----When did you wean (if applicable)?

    See question above

-----What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?

Well ... We have several vacations planned and I just hope to choas of summer fun doesn't encourage the girls to wean. Hoping being out of our comfortzone will get the girls on more of a scheduled feeding program versus demand. Other than that I love the sun and getting out of the darn house :)

wow, some of you have made BF work long term, congrats!!

my boys are 13 weeks old.

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? i BF except for one bottle a day (if we're going out or at night once DH is home).

How long have you been doing it? i had to supplement alot in the begining, it took almost 8 weeks for my supply to meet their demand. now i probably could EBF, but i want to keep them familiar with the bottle. i stopped pumping at 6 weeks, i hated it and it took too much time.

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term) before i delivered i wanted to go a whole year. i had a hard time with it in the begining, so i made a one-month promise to myself not to give up. i've renewed that promise twice. now that i've made it to three months i'm thinking about introducing a second bottle a day around lunch time and probably weaning by 6 months. but, who knows!? i'm just going to go with the flow and see what happens. i'm thinking about weaning b'c i'm tired of "sharing" my body, plus i can't lose weight i'm so hungry and LOVE sweets while BFing.

When did you wean (if applicable)? n/a

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer? ugh, i've given up on my summer wardobe already and have bought a few things 3 sizes bigger. we have a few trips planned and i'm worried that they're going to be a nightmare. i'm also dreading sleep training, but i know i'll like the results.

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? My small girls are EBF, except when they decide to actually eat something.

How long have you been doing it? I've been breastfeeding for 5 years, the small girls for the last 18 months.

What is your goal? Wean them sometime before kindergarten...They're my last babies, and I'm in no hurry (and neither are they).

When did you wean (if applicable)? n/a

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer? I always worry about drowning, especially now that I have four children and only two eyes. Otherwise, we're finally getting into a position where we can do something fun this summer :)

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? EBF, an occasional bottle if one still seems hungry afterwards or I'm going to be out

How long have you been doing it? So far, 4 1/2 months with my girls

What is your goal? I'd like to make it to a year at least and then just let my girls decide from there.

When did you wean (if applicable)? Still nursing here, but I weaned my DS when he was 19 months.

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer? The heat! It gets pretty stinking hot here and already my girls get too hot for our daily walks.

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? EBF... 3 times a day ( 7a, noon & 7p)... they get a bottle of soy milk after their afternoon nap. I just started doing this and LOVE it! 1) helps me build up a good last feeding of the day for them... my milk was pathetic if I nursed them at 5pm and then at 7pm again... now they get 6-8 oz at that last feeding! plus if they are at granparents for the afternoon, I don't have to pump for it! I have only 5 bags frozen... I'm just saving them for if they need it when I go out for the evening... when that is gone, I guess they'll get a soy bottle then too. I think they are getting close to 20 oz from me a day plus the 4-6oz soy milk, so I'm pleased with that.

How long have you been doing it? 13 months

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term) initially it was a year, I made that.... now we'll just see where it goes... I don't see myself quiting anytime soon.

When did you wean (if applicable)? n/a

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer? oh, swimming lessons for the babies, losing a bit of belly fat for me... I really enjoyed GREAT metabolism until I got my period... when the babies were 11 months. Almost overnight I think I put on 4-5 pounds... I've really "enjoyed" the free-for-all "diet" that I've given myself while breastfeeding... I think I need to reign that in now!

So, what are you doing (EBF, BF/FF, Pump/bottle)? I EBF because when I tried to pump I got terrible milk blisters that took literally three months to go away ( as always I :bow2: to all of you pumping mamas). I think I have the wrong size pieces, but it's too late to worry about it now. They don't like bottles anyway. When I have to leave them, I suffer through the pumping and they take it from a sippy cup.

How long have you been doing it? 10 and a half months already! Time really flies :)

What is your goal? (Longterm &/or short term)Definitely to make it to a year at least, then I think I'll take it day by day. I'll probably try to cut down to 2 or 3 nursings a day once they turn 1 just to make life easier all around and then see if we can wean slowly sometime over the second year.

What is one thing you are NOT looking forward to this summer?Using disposable diapers and swim diapers when I'm away on vacation. I can't bring myself to do laundry on vacation, and we're going away three times for over a week each time...but they do so well in their cloth diapers that I'm dreading it. Neither of them has had a diaper rash since I switched to cloth except for one day when I didn't get to do laundry and had to put them in disposables for an afternoon. They didn't take well to them at all so I'm definitely not looking forward to what it'll be like for a whole week.
