From what I've read online and here on the boards- it seems to be a pretty normal side effect- especially for the betamethasone apparently. Just wondering if anyone else had this too?

I was given my first steriod shot on Tuesday and the next on Wed. I've been on procardia 10mg every 6 hours since Tuesday and the last couple days there has been a significant decrease in movement. I had a NST this morning and it came back fine. There was less movement than the other NST's I've had but it was still good.

It's just freaking me out a bit because i'm used to them being all over the place. But like I said- they are moving just not near as much as they were before.

So if you have experienced this, did movement seem to pick back up later on or did it seem like the change was the new "norm" ??

I know that Mag can slow down fetal movement signigicantly. I was on Mag and procardia so its hard to tell if the procardia had that affect with my babies because I was never on it by itself. Good Luck! If you can feel them move, even if its not as much as before I am sure they are fine.

I had the same thing. I was on turb, Mag, st. shot, then procardia...it seemed to slow one baby down but baby B still gave everyone a run for their money but the nurses said that was odd....I think she is just going to be very active.

I wouldn't worry about it but if you are still concerned you should call your doctor.

I had the SAME thing after my 2 day hospital stay ~ got the betamethasone shots & started taking 60mg of Nifedipine (procardia) every 8 hours as well. (yes, totally high dose, but my dr. swears its fine for me).

I got out of the hospital on Wed night before thanksgiving & for 3 days had WAY WAY WAY less fetal movement. I was worried, but assumed it was from the med's and the fact that I was put on bedrest & not getting any activity like I was pre-hospital stay.

At my 1 week post-hosptial follow up I told my Dr. about the lack of movement she scolded me for not calling her - I felt like a big dummy! Soooo she sent me back over to the hospital to be monitored for a few hours (everything is fine :) ).

If you feel even the least bit worried about the lack of movement I now say call the Dr!! Better to err on the side of caution :)

Thanks girls! Today has been much better. They feel like they are moving around like normal again. I was up really early this morning stressing about it. I drank some hot chocolate and they started to move a tiny bit. It was enough to get me to relax enough to go back to sleep. I decided that if I woke up and ate breakfast with a big glass of juice and they STILL weren't moving- I was calling the OB...well they must of "felt" my threat because they cooperated.

I swear, these babies do nothing but worry us, huh?

That is great news that they are moving around again :)

It is sooooooo stressful trying to 'monitor' all these things, kicks, contractions etc.!

I just noticed Cinthya that we are only 1 day apart in our pregnancies and both having 2 girls!

When does your dr. estimate your delivery?

We are planning on a c-section the week of the 17th of Dec. as of now ~ I will be 36 weeks then. I have a marginal placenta previa...that is why the 36 weeks instead of 38 weeks :)

Tamaras, how cool! I have a due date buddy! lol

My c/s is scheduled for Dec 26th which puts me at 36 weeks 6 days. I'm hoping to last that long so I can bring the girls home with us (or at least have a better chance of it)

    COOL!
I actually just got off the phone w/ my dr's office & of course I was wrong with my dates again (so confusing!) ~ they scheduled the c-section for December 28th - so i will be 2 days behind you!
I dont know how i will last that long either!
feel free to send me a message w/ any complaints or whatever, cause I am probably feeling just as you are at this point!

Tamaras- OMG!! We are SO close!!! I know it doesn't really feel like it but Christmas always seems to come so fast and we are talking about just a day or two after that and we'll be holding our girls!!!

Hi I am about 24 hours after my 2nd dose of Betamethasone (I have been taking procardia as needed for contractions) I have been so worried. Fetal activity has GREATLY decreased. I have gone for 2 NST tests and they were both normal. But for me its still so upseting to not have much activity. Does anyone have any experience with this? When does the baby start moving again??? I am 32 weeks, my pregnancy started as twins but we lost one at 12 weeks or so. Thanks so much for any input. My doctor has offered to do an u/s on Saturday if the baby is still quiet. But that seems sooo far away.

For me, it ended up lasting about 2-3 days and then the movement picked back up again.

I've delivered by now and the girls are perfectly healthy!
