Best thing to get rid of a yeast infection in a little boy?

Poor James has a yeast infection on his little boy parts and he is miserable. I've been using Monistat cream to try and clear it up, but wondered if there was something better. TIA!

 

mine just got over one & here's my "secret formula"- sprinkle with cornstarch powder, apply monistat heavily & then top with a thick coat of desitin. it cleared it up in just a few days!

 

It's been a long time, but with DS I remember that we had to get a prescription. We couldn't get it cleared up with Monistat or other suggested home remedies.

 

My oldest had it , and the doctor gave me cortisone cream for it, and it was the only thing that actually helped.

 

With DS we used an anti-fungal cream (like Lotrimin). The pedi said to put it on twice a day with Desitin (or whatever diaper rash cream you use) over top of it. He also said to put him in the tub 2-3 times a day (like that's realistic with having more than just the one child and a 2 year old running around ). The water helps pull all that fungus out and dry it up. DS was completely cleared up within a couple day. HTH.

 

I have used yogurt and if that didn't help, I used Lotrim and a diaper cream. Hope he is feeling better soon!

 

Jenny, both of my babies just got over a yeast rash. The Nystatin from the ped did absolutely nothing. I used the combo of Monistat and Gold Bond Powder with Cornstarch and it cleared right up.
