Hi. My poor, sweet Sophie has the worst diaper rash. Both babies have been having quite a few loose stools in their diapers, possibly from us changing to Parents' Choice formula or maybe from the peaches yesterday...not sure...but, poor Sophie's little hiney is SO red & chafed. I've been putting Johson's & Johnson's rash cream on her, but she still screams during changing. Our wipes don't have alcohol or anything in them & are hypoallergenic. Any suggestions? Oh, & I have given her a few baths just with water hoping that would help. Thank you!

I have never had to deal with a diaper rash so I will not recommend a cream. However, I smear Vaseline on every night after a bath and in the morning over their tushes and wee wee's. Just a like film. The vaseline keeps the moisture away from the skin. I also change diaper's immediately if possible. For night, I use overnight diapers that are longer absorbancy. I have to say the vaseline has done its job for the boys to have gone one year next week without a rash.

I have found that A&D ointment works the best at clearing up diaper rash, or just plain old vaseline works great to prevent it.

We have a lot of excema (however you spell it) and the only thing that will work for the girls is Vaseline or aquaphor. Every once in while we use Balmex, but every thing else breaks them out worse!

My mom and sisters have always used desitin so that is what I bought when they were born. Then once, one of them got a horrible rash and desitin did nothing for it. Then I remember reading here that people liked Boudreaux's Butt Paste. I had seen it before and thought I would never buy a product with that name!!! Well I bought it and it basically worked instantly!! That is all I use now. Before bed, I used to do both aquaphor and the butt paste but since they dont really get rashes, I have not been doing both.

We use Lotrimin--yep the athlete's foot stuff. Works wonders overnight. We just use the generic Target brand.

Triple Paste is pretty good, though it's a tad expensive. We've had good luck with A&D and Buttpaste, smeared on together at night. Unfortunately, I'm starting to think that DS2 is allergic to the diapers we've been using and I may need to switch. If it doesn't go away, you might look into that as well as changing the wipes you use. I'd never even thought of that until someone pointed it out to me the other day!

We found that the combination of pure lanolin and A&D ointment worked the best. Pure lanolin is expensive, but it gave the quickest results and A&D has lanolin in it, too. Also, if you are breastfeeding you might want to reevaluate your diet because it may be the cause of her diaper rash. I had to avoid Mexican food for awhile!

I was using Balmex and it was not working, so my Dr. suggested A&D and it worked like a charm. Good Luck.

With mild to moderate diaper rash, Butt Paste worked the best for me. For severe, I got a prescription for Nystatin, which really helped. Plus, I let the girls air dry (go around without a diaper) for few minutes after bathing them or during diaper changes. Also, I have used the Triple paste that is really good. And for regular changes either vaseline or A&D to prevent them.

Have you tried changing diaper brands? Instead of wipes, my Pedi recommended just using warm water to clean and air drying. HTH

I swear by Butt Paste. I still use it on the girls when they get red and sore from not wiping properly.

Well, my dh got the Bordreaux's Butt Paste last night & it appears to be helping! Thank you all so much for you suggestions! I appreciate it very much. It must've been the peaches we tried the other day that caused the loose diapers. She has been much much better today!
