I found the best cure for a diaper rash!
A u/s tech told me about this when we went in for the twins hip u/s because they were both breech.
She said to take an old nylon and put a little (maybe 3 Tablespoons) dry oatmeal in it and tie the end. Then when you make your baby a bath put that in and squish it around until the water is milky looking. Then soak your baby's bum in it and give them a bath. Then after the bath put your usual diaper rash cream on. I tried it and it works great!!!

Emily has been getting a rash a lot. None of my other babies ever got rashes very often. I'm not sure what's causing it, maybe she just has really sensitive skin.

Also, does anyone else have a problem with Desitin creamy or Balmex hurting their babies bums. Mine scream whenever I put it on. I thought it was the zinc oxide, but I have some the hospital gave us that has zinc oxide and it doesn't bother them. So I think it must be one of the other ingredients, probably a purfume or something.

I swear by original A&D ointment (not the creamy stuff) it works fabulous when my kids get a red butt

    Just an idea...

DS2 had the worst diaper rash I've ever seen. Nothing worked, natural remedies, expensive creams, nothing. Even the pediatrician was stumped, after I told her I'd eliminated everything citrus out of his diet per her suggestion. Someone suggested to me that it could be his diapers or his wipes. I knew it wasn't the wipes, but I did try the diapers after thinking about it, because it seemed like it started not long after we started buying them. Apparently, the Luv's brand contains a powder scent that irritates his skin so badly that it gets raw. I switched to Huggies (it was just the first thing I grabbed off the shelf) and the next day it was gone. It's been a week since I've changed and we haven't had any issues.

It may be a long shot, but I honestly never would have thought about it unless someone had mentioned it to me. I hope you find something that works! I always felt SO bad for him whenever it got bad because I couldn't do anything but make him semi-comfortable.

This is what we use and it works great. We started applying it at every diaper change about 4 months ago after battling constant rashes. It cleared up after about a week of continuous use and we haven't had one rash since.

I would definately try a different wipe first of all, maybe even just wet paper towels? And then change diapers if she continues to have problems. Oatmeal baths are great! Haven't tried it on diaper rashes yet, but I can certainly see how it would help! For the really bad diaper rashes I use a combo of Neosporin, Monistat, and Gold Bond Baby Powder with Cornstarch. That combo covers just about everything and clears up a bad rash fairly quickly.

Interesting! I'll have to try that if we have a problem.

Here's what's been keeping diaper rash at bay for us: cloth diapers, cloth wipes with plain water, and a butt cream cocktail (mix of unscented zinc cream, vaseline, and lanolin).

Yes... they cry that it burns!

The only thing they do not complain with is the A&D ointment or Budreaux's(sp?) buttpaste.

If it's really bad, I give my son a sitz bath every time I change him. I also got this amazing cream from the doctor - it comes in the TINIEST tube, and you only use a minimal amount. Clears up the WORST rash overnight!!! I've never seen anything like it. I'd ask your Ped. about a prescription remedy.

Thanks for everyone's tips. They had their 2 month check-up on Mon. and we found out that we have thrush! That's when it dawned on me, that's why it started hurting when she BF a few days before. So that's what is causing the rash.

But I know that some diapers bother some babies, my sister in law had that problem with her son. I was about to try that also when we found out it was thrush. Luckily it was just starting and I felt better after the first day using the Nystatin cream.

Acidic Bottom from an ouchie poopie: We wash with plain warm water then apply A&D to the red/sore area.

Yeast Infection: We use virgin coconut oil mixed with cornstarch to a consistency of cinnamon roll frosting drizzle. We drizzle that over the yeasted area. If the concoction isn't made ahead of time, then we just use straight virgin organic coconut oil. The cornstarch just helps to keep from absorbing into the skin too quickly. Coconut oil is a safe, natural way to eliminate anything dealing with virus, bacteria, fungus or parasites.
