It seems like no matter how many times I change my DD's bib her outfit still gets wet under the chin. Are there any super absorbent bibs out there, or how do the plastic backed ones work?

I've tried the plastic backed bibs and they seem to keep the underneath from getting wet. The only downside is that they aren't as thick as the normal bibs. I have happy spitters, too, so I feel your frustration.

I dont care for the plastic bibs as it just makes the spit up just sit there because they dont absorb it. We bought a pack of bibs, just koala baby I think, at BRU that work pretty well and we just change bibs very often.

My two have turned into drool monsters and we go through bibs like crazy. I bought a couple packs of the plastic backed ones from target (circo brand) and I've been pretty happy with them.

I have used the bibs from target and walmart with the plastic on the back. If I had to choose I would choose walmart I think the velcro on the back last longer. However I use the carters bib with the snap on the back for during the day and they haven't leak through yet and mine are drooling like crazy at 7 months.

I haven't been crazy about the Parent's Choice (walmart brand) plastic-backed bibs we have; as a pp mentioned, they're not very absorbent at all. If you can find ones ith reasonably thick terrycloth AND the vinyl backing, I think those would be good.
I've also found that any that are two layers thick rather than just one are usually pretty absorbent. We found some good ones at Walmart--also Parent's Choice brand--for $2 each.

I have koala baby now. They work all right, but with the amount she spits up, I can go through 10 + a day, and still have to change her outfit more than once. <_< If I had a serger, I would make bibs out of the chinese prefold diaprers that I have.

My DD used to spit up a lot and I used to put a bib under her babygro (onsie) or clothes and one on top as she´d just soak everything. I used to get through outfits a lot too. Once she grew out of this, at around 6 months, she started drooling for England! I used plastic-backed ones and they work quite well but are a bit on the thin side for when the LOs are sick. I hope you find some good ones soon!

I agree that the plactic backed ones are pretty thin but I gotta say they work well for us. Both drool but my daughter's mouth is like an open faucet all day long. So we still change the bibs frequently but not as much as we used to and her clothes/chest doesn't get wet anymore. My DS who is now 7 never drooled like this. I don't know what to make of it. Been drooling now since they were about 4 months with no intensions of letting up!
