Best and worst of year one

As a twin mommy over half way through the first year I am wondering what your best and worst moments of the first year are? Easiest part, hardest part?

 

Worst moment was leaving the hospital without them. Longest 11 days of my life. After that, hands down the lack of sleep. It took us 6 mos before we realized the boys wanted to sleep together and a few months after that to get the hang of co-sleeping with 2. If we would have done that from the beginning we prolly would have got more sleep. The 1 year of their life is truly a foggy blur. The best moments have been all the days since...and counting.

 

Best:
- meeting my munchkins for the first time
- breastfeeding
- sweet, snuggly babies
- first smiles, laughs, coos
- watching them learn so much, so quickly - it's incredible!
- realizing I have awesome friends & family who were often willing to drop everything to help me out on a bad day (or even on a good day!)
- watching my husband become a daddy

Worst:
- sleep deprivation
- hormones making me crazy
- sleep deprivation
- breastfeeding! :laughing:
- babies that never wanted to be put down
- sleep deprivation (there's a reason it's used as a form of torture...)
- the fear & anxiety that I was doing it wrong or was going to miss some sort of serious developmental delay or health problem because I just didn't know any better

 

Rachel's list is almost exactly like mine, especially the fear and anxiety part. That was the worst for me! Oh, and the giant breast abcess that made breastfeeding a total nightmare.

The absolute best was the early days when the boys were still sleeping in our room and I would wake up in the morning and nurse them and we'd basically hang out in bed all morning. It was summer and gorgeous and the windows were open and it was just so peaceful being all cocooned up with them. And there was one morning where they both learned to laugh at the same time. I sneezed and both boys giggled for the first time and so we fake sneezed all day for them.
