Okay I have truly lost it!!! Yesterday I went out and bought a 'head' light to cut their nails, you know the kind they use for hiking in caves?

Well when I was pregnant, we were given the advice 'to cut their nails while they sleep', which I have always done but holding a flashlight in your mouth is not easy as I would drool all over it and it was gross!

So I went out and bought a light that attaches to my head, I know I must look like a weirdo, but Oh my Gosh, What a difference and it worked great!!!

Thought I'd share if any one else struggles to cut your babies nails. Don't knock it until you've tried it! You can call me crazy, I don't mind!

I am too scared to cut them while they sleep so I put them in their bouncy seat and sit beside them. They are pretty cooperative for the most part.
The idea of you wearing a light on your head cracks me up though! Like you are mining for fingernails. :p

How resourceful of you! Cutting fingernails is not fun. DH, who does everything with the babies from poopy diapers to throw up, to sucking out buggers with the bulb syringe, etc., refuses to cut nails he is so afraid he'll hurt them.

I got my best advice from my sister. She said to wait until after they've had a bath and are sleepy. Sit with them in your lap, facing out. Sounds simple, but that angle really helps, as long as they don't try to grab the clippers..

I'll second the headlight! We didn't use it to cut finger nails (great idea though) but we did use it when DH or I were making bottles and feeding babies but just didn't want to turn on a light.

I'll join you in the dork-village...whatever works! LOL!!!

Too funny! I usually fight them and hold them down instead while they are awake! It's more fun that way!

That's the problem at our house. I swear I have no idea why I buy toys when we have the nail clippers, the bulb syringe, the box of wipes, the bottles of lotion, and whatever else they're constantly grabbing while I'm trying to use it, for them to play with!

Can't say I'm gonna go out and buy a head light but that is a great idea about cutting their nails when they sleep...now just to get the to sleep <_<

I always trimmed them when I breastfed! DS is great with getting nails trimmed, DD not so, but she is learning! Great picture though! :)

OMG...I can't stop laughing. The things we think of, huh? Whatever it takes, which has been my mantra for the last 9 months! I just read this to my husband and he's all excited to go to Target now and see if they sell them!!!

I tried once to cut my daughter's nails and drew blood! Never again. My husband...and this may sound weird...bites their nails! It works. It's weird and slightly gross, but it works! They look great.

Oh, that is too funny! I can just picture the headlamp...

I trim my babies' nails while they're nursing, or I pop them in the Baby Bjorn facing forward with something interesting to look at and do it then. Works really well. Cutting toenails is harder, because they always want to curl up the toes on me.
