Berries ok?

I was just at the store looking for food that the girls might like. I saw some blackberries and raspberries. Are those ok to give them? I know that people say to wait on strawberries but I wasn't sure if these fell into the same category.

My ped said that fruits with more seeds tend to be more allergenic. Raspberries and blackberries, like strawberries, do both have a fair number of seeds. Blueberries, however, those have fewer, and have always been very popular at our house.

We did do other berries before one year. Mel loves loves loves raspberries.

 

We have been eating berries since about 9-10 months. It is a big favorite. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries & blackberries. Just be careful and watch for any reaction. Also - even if they are not allergic, if you give too many they can get a butt rash (mine do!).

 

We did berries between 9-10 months. I wasn't going to give it to them until after 1 yr, but my mother gave it to them without thinking.

 

We have done blueberries and raspberries. I think the recommendation is to wait until after a year.

 

We were told that all berries (i.e. strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.) are in the same category and that we should wait 1 year. It does make it difficult when so many things have them!

 

I have read that you should also wait on other berries (besides blueberries and cranberries, which are from a different family -- opinions seem to vary on that too, though!). However, I had already given my girls raspberries by the time I read that. We did wait on strawberries, but not on the others.
