My daughter's right ear lobe is bent. Most likely cause she likes to sleep on that side and her chubby chin pushes her ear up. I've tried putting her on her other side, but she always favours her right side. Any suggestions on what I should do? DH jokes that when she's older we'll get big diamond earrings and weigh them down!

I don’t have a suggestion :unknw: , but LOVE your dh’s idea :clapping: … maybe I should try that with MY dh ;) ….

No suggestions here, either. Does it stay that way all day, even when she is awake? How old is she? (is she holding her head up yet?) To me, it sounds like something that might correct itself when she is older, but it never hurts to call the ped. since you have some concern. :hug99:

And I second that was a great idea your DH had!

how old is your dd? one of my girls had the same problem, she's now 7 mths and it's finally starting to get better. She was born with a bent right ear, the ped. said it was because she was baby A in a head down position most of the pregnancy, especially towards the end when her sister was basically sitting on her head. When she was born her right ear was bent and the right side of her head was flat. We tried everything to get her to lay on the other side but nothing worked, she would flip back over and lay on her right. Like I said, she's now 7mths and the flat side of her head has even out, you can't even notice a difference and her ear is alot better. At her 6mth appt I talked to the dr about her ear getting fixed and she said it's just cosmetic, later down the road we could look into having surgery to straighten it out but it doesn't affect her earing so we're just leaving it as it is. Now that her hair is growing in you can hardly notice.

Josh's left ear was fine when he was born, but after laying on the left side all the time it became bent. We found out he had torticollis and we had to put a rolled up towel under his left side to prevent him from laying on it. We also made sure when we held him to make sure his ear was not bent. He is almost 7 months and it's a lot better. What I also noticed was at first their ears were very soft and pliable and now they have firmed up.

I saw this whole thing on tv the other day that said after 6 months old the ear stays pretty much the same. Nefeli's was really bent when she was born and is a little better but still noticeable. your post didn't say how old your baby was but in the show on tv they actually mentioned for those less than 6mo that putting a bandaid to hold the ear back helps and of course turning the head the other way when the child is sleeping so there's no extra weight on it.

Thank you all for the replies! DD is 9 weeks old. I'll try the band-aid suggestion.

    cjk - what is torticollis???
