I finally have a quick moment to post an update.

Benjamin Michael and Joseph Daniel were born on March 5th at 1:40am and 1:50am. Benjamin weighed 7lbs. 4oz. and Joseph weighed 6lbs. 7oz. I carried them to 39weeks 6days!!

I was scheduled to be induced on Friday, March 4th at 6am, but ended up getting pushed back a bit. We ended up going in around 1pm instead. They started the pit at around 3pm. I started out at 3cm. I was on the pit for about 7 hours and only dilated 1cm! The contractions were about every 2-3 minutes but very bearable. They were uping the pit slower than normal because the babies' HR were causing some concern. It was difficult keeping the babies on the monitor. At around 10:30pm the doctor suggested breaking my water, so we agreed. I knew it would be fast after that because it had been with all my others. I even asked if I could get the epidural before she broke my water because I knew it was going to be fast and get intense after that. She said she would rather me wait just in case my contractions didn't pick up. So, she broke my water and about 10-15 minutes after that I was asking for the epidural. I got the epidural around 11pm (after 3 tries) and 45 minutes later I was feeling some pressure down there, so they checked me and I was complete. We hung out in my room for a bit so that the baby could move down on his own. When I started feeling more pressure and like I wanted to push, they wheeled me to the OR. I pushed with baby A for about 5 minutes; his apgars were 7 and 9. Then it was baby B's turn. He wasn't descending because he was at a bad angle and his cord fell in front of his head and his heart rate was dropping. They were telling me to push like crazy and they were pushing on my stomach to push him down. My dh said the doctor was up to her elbows in there trying to get him out. At one point she called for the anesthesiologist because she was thinking of doing a c-section for baby B. Finally, she did get him out with the vacuum. He ended up with a huge bruise on his right eye and forehead from the vacuum. When he came out he was limp and blue and his apgars were 2 and 8. He ended up spending the first day in the special care nursery.

So far we are all adjusting well. I'm actually not as tired as I thought I would be. They are both nursing great and we are supplementing with a little formula as well. I usually nurse them both at the same time, which we got the hang of rather quickly. The twin nursing pillow I bought was been a lifesaver; I couldn't nurse them both together without it.

I ended up with some nerve damage from the delivery which has caused my left lower leg and foot to feel numb. It's hard to walk on it because it's weak and numb. I'm following up with a neurologist in a couple weeks. Hopefully it will just resolve on it's own.

Here's a link to my facebook photos; hopefully you can see them. Let me know if you can't.

Congratulations! You did so great with 39 weeks and 6 days, good for you! The delivery sounds exciting, good thing everything went fine and you avoided the C-Section. Good luck with everything and I hope they are doing well!
