Belly button ring? Do I need to get rid of it?

I'm almost 5 months along with twins. And now that I have popped, I have not stop growing since. I have a belly button ring in and I don't know if I need to get rid of it. It's not bothering me yet, but I'm not sure if it is going to. It is something I did when I was 18 years old and as silly as it sounds I don't want to get rid of it. It kinda gives me a goal to work at after the babies are here. Any thoughts?

Welcome to TS!! I took my belly button ring out at around 24 weeks when my belly button became flat and I just thought it looked weird. It was never terribly uncomfortable though. Sadly, the hole was closed by the time I had the girls.

I took my bellybutton right out with my DS and had to get it repierced afterwards, so i was stubborn and only took it out the day i had my DD. This time around I'm seeing how long i make it before it bugs me. If you really want to keep it after its bugging you, simply try putting it in once a week or so to keep the hole open, it shouldn't be a problem if you've had it a number of years.

I don't have one, but my understanding is that it's fine to leave it in as long as it isn't damaging the skin around it by pulling/tearing. Even little microscopic tears that you can't see could open you up for infection and you certainly don't want that! When I was in L&D last week, a woman in her early 30 weeks still had her's in (granted it wasn't twins!) but it wasn't pulling at all. I say leave it in!

I took mine out when my belly button was flat at 14 weeks! I guess I am small. I didn't really care to put it back though. Even though I have had it for 8 years, it never fully healed because of a skin allergy, so I just got rid of it.

I am 33 weeks pg with twins and still have mine in. I did switch to a pregnancy piercing, which is just a flexible bar available online, because it is plastic and you don't have to worry about taking it out if a c-section was needed. I actually have my belly button pierced twice, once on top and once on bottom, and why I did take the top when out when I was pg with my DS I kept the bottom one in the whole pg and this is the one I still have today. So you can totally keep it in it's just the matter of getting the right jewelry.
