Since last night I have been feeling an ache in my belly. It just feels sore constantly, and while it is tight, it is not as hard as during a BH, so I don't think it is contractions. I am 31w4d with very active di/di boys, so I was wondering whether it was just them going through a growth spurt, and therefore I am stretching? The boys are still moving a lot, so at least I know they are OK.

Has anyone else had anything like this?

I constantly feel tightness... the babies are just running out of room in there it seems for me...and putting all sorts of pressure on my organs. I get really bad gas pains at times too. I never can tell what's what. I'm just hoping when the real contractions start...if they ever do, that I'll know the difference. I'm just so uncomfortable.

Are you able to get some relief by laying down or anything?

I have a lot of tightness on my belly button and also around my top ribcage on the left. I swear it feels like the baby will break through any minute! I am also 31 weeks and five days. So, feeling your pain for sure!

I never did have the constant ache you mention. I did, however, experience lower abdominal pains 2 weeks ago at 29 weeks. I would get the pains below my navel every so often, and at first I just blew them off as gas pains. But on the second day I thought it sure was weird to have gas pains for so long, and they were more frequent. I decided to go get monitored at the birthing center. At first the pains weren't registering on the fetal/contraction monitor nor could the nurse feel my uterus tensing up. But after a few hours she finally felt a small contraction. A few hours after that a doctor checked me and realized I was 4 cm dialated and my water bag was bulging. I was given mag sulfate, steroid shots, and transferred to a bigger hospital where they put me on procardia to keep the contractions at bay. But 4 days later my labor started again and my twins were born (they're doing well in NICU though!).

Anyway, I'm not sure what is causing your constant ache, and it is probably not contractions since you feel it all of the time. But for anybody else out there that experiences unexplained pains (that don't follow typical contractions) you should get yourself checked to be on the safe side! I figured the birthing center would laugh me out of their and diagnose it as gas pains, but I am so glad I went in anyway. Had I not then they wouldn't have been able to delay my labor and my boys wouldn't have benefited from the steroid shots (which need 48 hours to take effect).

    Best of luck to you!

Does it feel sore like a bruise? like someone slugged you in the stomach 3 days ago from the inside??
I used to tell my OB that I felt like my whole stomach was bruised and would hold ice bags to my belly. there were days I literally thought my stomach was just going to burst open!
