Belated birth announcement

    I'm pleased to announce the birth of

    Banjo Max (3lb 40z) & Griffen James (1lb 15 oz)

    3.3.09 at exactly 30 weeks. On my Monday Ultrasound, there was significant reversed flow to Griffen (my sIUGR baby), so the decision was made to schedule the ultrasound for the next day. Tuesday morning, we were told there was not enough room in NIcu, so it would be wednesday, but not to eat anything as they would to an ultrasound to see if things were still OK. They weren't, so the section was done 2 hours later. It was fine, a different experience from my 2 vaginal births, but fine. Griffen's umblical cord was just a shoe lace, poor little thing, and they commented that it was only a small placenta, too.
    The little bubbas did really well, Banjo was born first, then Griffen 2 minutes later. They both went on CPAP, then Banjo was ventilated for 24 hours, but apart from that they really haven't had any issues other than the normal premmie stuff. They are both now breathing room air and are only 30gms off their birth weight. Banjo will soon be moved into SCBU.
    If I hadn't seen only 1 placenta and chacked their blood types, I would be doubting they were identical! Besides the size difference, Banjo has a headful of black hair, Griffen's is much sparser and lighter!
    We do stuff like change their nappies and today I held thm both at the same time. Very cute.

    Sorry but photos are a while off. We are living with my MIL whilst our house is being finished and she has no internet so I'm at the library.
