We have a pool in the backyard and since we are about to enter a heat wave (we live in So. Cal) I was thinking about taking the girls in the pool (with DH). However, I really never thought about an age limit. Are the girls okay to enter a pool at this age?

I use to teach swimming lessons and did the Mom and me lessons but for the life of me I cannot remember if we should wait until they are older or if they are okay to go in now. I was also on my high school swim team and played water polo competitively so I cannot wait to introduce the water to the girls but of course I want it to be at the right time.

    Just wondering...

Call the PED and ask to be for sure..........but........I would say (just as a mom) that if it were me, I would probably do it now (just give them a bath after to wash off the chlorine).

My girls were 3 1/2 months adjusted when we first took them in the pool, and I would have probably taken them sooner had it been warmer. I have never heard that there is an age requirement for going in the pool. But if you are worried about it ask your pediatrician. Have fun, its a blast!!

We took our little guys to swim lessons at 3 months old. It didn't last very long because they got overstimulated in a loud, noisy pool environment... but otherwise, it was great! :) Our PED said there was no problem with it.

I too have never thought of an age limit, heck some are born in the water so I think its fine. Have fun! Mine are much older but have loved the pool since last summer. Stay cool B)
