Is being exhausted normal for a twin pregnancy? I am trying to decide if I should ask the doctor to check my iron levels. I am exhausted every day, no matter how much I sleep/rest. I know I am carrying twins but I thought I would be a little less worn out in the second trimester. I wasn't like this when I was pregnant with a singleton so I am trying to gauge if this is normal for a twin pregnancy.

It could very well be your iron levels. Sure, there is a certain amount of tiredness just from being pregnant. But I remember when I was about 19 weeks along and feeling SO tired that I was kind of lethargic - NO energy whatsoever. I asked my doctor about it at my 20 weeks appointment, they did a blood draw (which they normally do at this time anyway) and sure enough, I am anemic (this is common with twin pregnancies). Taking an additional iron supplement has made a world of difference! Still tired of course - but not lethargic. You should definitely ask your dr. about your iron - doesn't hurt to ask!

Just went to doc yesterday(I'm 19.5 weeks) and told of same prob with extreme tiredness lately-they tested and my hemoglobin was lowaihad to add iron today-i def recommend bringing up and asking for thyroid and iron levels tested if more tired than previously! I actually made it up past 9 pm after taking first iron dose today! Good luck!

my peri told me to pretty much expect to feel this way (being utterly exhausted) until i deliver. she said i can forget about the second trimester energy jump and all that fun stuff that goes with it. pretty much to rest as much as possible because breathing is so difficult and will only continue to get worse. working out to her consisted of very mild light walking or wadding in a swimming pool. BUT my twin boys are mono/di so that might have something to do with my limitations but i think the exhaustion issue would be the same and i'm not far behind you so yeah, i hear you on this and i'm being told it's "normal"

I did not get my second trimester energy boost until 24 weeks. Not sure how long it will last, but it sure is nice to not br rushing home after work to lay down. I also changed my sleep patter and now get 9+ hours of sleep, not to mention it is good sleep. Not sure if it is natural or not, I take one benadryl every night for a rash that has developed on my chest. From about 15 weeks to 24 weeks, my sleep sucked.

I was remember being very tired, and my Dr said it was normal. I agree with the PP, if you are concerned definitely bring it up at your next appointment. GL!

I get tired, but not to the point of exhaustion. You should mention this to your Dr.
