bee sting allergies

    My maternal grandmother was allergic to bee stings (had to have an epi-pen on hand at all times); my mom isn't, and I'm not. Is there any chance of my kids being allergic too?

    im not sure but i would ask my ped about it. it may be possible

    It's a good question Holly!! I wonder if the HI ladies might be able to help with this.

    I was thinking that recently. "You never know if they'll be allergic till they get their first bee sting!" That's a little scary!

    Holly, I can ask my allergist what her thought are when I go in again next week. You just missed me today, I worked there this evening and just got home!

    Luckily, the first reaction shouldn't be an anaphylactic reaction. The body has to be sensitized to the allergen first. They may just experience a larger than normal reaction.
