I can't get the girls down for bedtime before 11pm. Riley isn't so bad she goes around 10pm but Skylar acts like she's going to miss something and sometimes I actually have to hold her till she falls asleep and then I have to place her in her bouncer because when I go to set her down in her crib she screams like someone is beating her then she wakes Riley up. I don't know what to do - I had to hold her lastnight until 10:45pm then I set her down and fell asleep and at 12:30am she woke up hysterical. I don't know what to do!!!!

I could have written your post! I have exactly the same problem!! It's killing me. One desperate night I fell asleellp holding my girl (the difficult one). I'm dying to figure out how to synchronize their schedule.

Hang in there, you are not alone. And if you figure out something, let me know!

I'm sure you will get a wide variety of answers here. I'm hesitant to recommend anything because of the big contraversies over sleep training.

My first thought is, that bedtime is too late and they are overtired. I could be wrong though. If 10:30-11:00 bedtime works for your family, then set that as bedtime and do the same routine everynight to work towards consistancy. I've done CIO and it works for me, not for everyone. I don't do the full blown, lay em down and walk away not to return kind of CIO, but I do a modified version if the need exists.

Best of luck, I hope that you get some great answers and support!

If you are willing to CIO Id suggest seperating them for a few nights til you get her sleep trained. I had to sleep train my ds and it took a few rough nights but it worked...I did modified CIO. DId the same thign with the girls a few weeks back, they were used to falling asleep in the cribs. i took them to their rooms, turned on the mobiles and sound machine and told them good night. THey screamed, I went in to calm and over 3 nights time they were falling asleep alone

Oh and we also moved up bedtime, they were overtired and fought sleep sometimes, bedtime went from 7-730 down up to 630

Oh no 11pm isn't their bedtime, I put them down at 8:30pm and Skylar screams for 45 minutes while Riley is trying to sleep. So I take her out so she doesn't wake Riley. Lastnight Skylar stayed up till 2am playing and woke up at 5am screaming. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Would you post their daily schedule? It seems to me that with an 8:30 bedtime, depending on when the wake up, nap, etc. they could certainly be overtired and not know how to settle down and fall asleep. Also, could there be anything else going on right now -- teething, specifically, comes to mind.

It depends Skylar sometimes wakes up at 5am or maybe she'll sleep until 10am. Riley falls asleep at 8:30pm-9pm and she sleeps until about 7am-8am and then takes a nap at around 11am till 12:30pm then she takes a nap around 3pm till 4:30pm and stays up till her last bottle around 8:30pm. Now Skylar is a totally different story - She won't go down for naps, she fights and screams until you finally can't take anymore crying. Lastnight she fell asleep at 8pm and slept till 8:50pm and screamed from then till 9:40pm till I went in and got her. Put her on the bed with us she was fine playing and laughing. I know this is wrong but at 10:30pm I gave her a small bottle in her crib and she fell asleep and slept through the night.
