My girls never used to have this problem! the past couple of weeks have been insane! So now I have 2 crying babies and I shut the door and walked away! I am so tired of this bedtime fight!
I am tired of standing over the crib breaking my back patting bums and shooshing for 45 mins for them to sleep 30 mins and then have to start all over again.
    ARGH!!!!!!!!!

i hear ya, we have been dealing with the same issues. It got better for awhile, and even now they go to sleep with very little fuss, but DD always wakes up after 45 minutes of sleep and screams her little head off, if I go into to shush her it only makes it worse.

    Hang in there :hug99:

I don't know if it's always this way for you -- but it didn't used to be this was for us....until about 2 weeks ago -- we moved their bedtime up a half and hour to 6:30pm - and had the first cry-free bedtime in weeks! I don't know what time you put them down -- but maybe and earlier bedtime would help?? Just a thought.

I try to get them as close to 7 as possible, depending on when they got up from their last nap. I dont let them go more than 1.5-2 hrs awake. I have even been doing a 4:30-5ish 30min catnap to prevent the overtiredness and get them thru eating and baths etc.
I let them cry for about 10-15 mins (during which I held it together and didnt cry myself!) then I went in and patted their bums and they both fell asleep within 3 mins. And they are still asleep, they've just about made it an hour which is a good sign! (but of course I probably just jinxed it)

They used to go down and stay down till about 1-2, now its just insanity come bedtime. And constant wakings for every reason. I started eaning them from the swaddle Fri, I left 1 arm free and they slept the best they had in weeks that night only getting up twice. And Sofia would prob sleep thru the night if it wasnt for her sister's screaming and me rolling her off her flat spot. Its always one of us waking her.

My stomach just sank as I got flashbacks of the horrors of bedtime at that age. Unfortunately, I have no advice other than this too shall pass :D . Seriously, I remember bedtime almost bringing me to tears a few times. I don't know what it is about that age, but keep doing what you're doing and you'll wake up one day and say "hey! I didn't want to strangle myself during bedtime last night!" I promise. Just hang in there for a couple more weeks. :hug99:

We spent lots of time in the car at that age. Was the only way we could get them to sleep until they were about 4 months old.

It will pass...I know you're probably tired of hearing that but hopefully your good sleepers return soon.

Mine fight sleep as well...really only when they go down for the night. I dont know why. My peditrician also recommended cereal for reflux and I give it to them for their last bottle for the night. I have wondered if the cereal is upsetting their tummies...

On a totally unrelated note...I bought my girls the same gap pink/purple outfits as you have your girls in. They wear them all of the time. Funny too, I saw on your blog site the Thing 1 and Thing 2 outfits...I registered for them...didnt get them and forgot all about them. Cute stuff!

I wonder if it is an age thing. Are they moving a lot? Ours have never been great at bedtime but things got REALLY bad right around 3 1/2 months. We didn't bother trying to fix it with the 4 month shots coming up. It continued to get worse and worse until one or the other was in bed with me half the night and the other was up every 1 or so. We did CIO a week ago and things have improved since. Last night they only fussed - no crying and only woke at 11 and 2!!!!!

I know lots of women are anti-CIO but HSHHC suggests it after 4 months old.

My twins are younger than yours, but I used to have a horrible time getting them to sleep; since I moved their bedtime to 7pm instead of 9 or 10 (at the suggestion of postings on this forum) they've been great and it's gone a lot better most nights. I bring them into their bedroom with the lights low and the white noise playing (vacuum cleaner sound) and it has done wonders to calm them down when they are both crying and I feel like I'm going to pull my hair out. I don't have room for a rocking chair in their room so rocking them isn't an option for me, plus I'm home alone at night since DH works until 11:30pm, so I don't have anyone to help me rock or bounce them to sleep.

Thank goodness when they fell asleep last night they stayed asleep! They each only got up twice (and once was them waking within minutes of each other so I only had to get up 3x) which is more like it!
I also got ok from the pedi today for CIO, she said 'by all means let them cry'!

    Lets see how tonight goes!....

    Me too!!

I'm so sorry!! :hug99: I personally felt like the first four months were the hardest. It DOES get sooo much better. :hug99:

That is great news! Our pedi told us at 4 mos. to try CIO also. I have to admit that it took Emma 10 nights, with 4 and 5 being the worst. For us, it got worse before it got better, but didn't take forever. And once she did get it...aaahhh...the nights were so much better. GOOD LUCK!!!!
