My boys are 15 months old and we very recently did away with their final bottle, the bedtime bottle. They used to drink their bottles relatively quickly and then we would get them ready for bed, but now that they get a bedtime sippy of milk and they seem to not drink as diligently and the bedtime routine drags on. I give them about 5 ozs of milk. Is that too much? What do you ladies do? Should I institute a timeframe? If so, how long? I don't expect them to chug their milk down, but they really are goofing off. :)

I give them sippy cups about 1/2hr before we start bedtime. I'll put a show on and they will drink some and watch tv. I then take the cup upstairs and start bedtime. They never drink the entire cup. I give them a 6oz cup. Sometimes they will only drink half. I don't worry about it anymore. Try offering it earlier and see if that helps.

Like the pp, I give about 4 oz. in a sippy to the girls about 30 minute before sleeping. They don't drink all of it, and once their done, I take those away, and we spend the rest of the time reading or playing or something like that. Then, we just go upstairs, say goodnight and put them in their cribs. I would just give it to them and don't force them to drink all of it...they'll get used to that as well. Good luck!

My twins get two 8 oz sippies of milk per day. One when they awaken in the morning and one at about 6 PM, two hours before they go to bed. They always drink every bit of it. I guess you just have to do what works best for you.

You could either give them the sippy while you read a story, and when story time is done, the sippy is done too. Or you can designate a spot where they must stay and drink their sippy. I used boppy pillows for my girls. I also warm up the bedtime sippy a bit since I don't want them to get 'brain-freeze.'

We always just offered a sippy and let them drink however much they wanted during a few minutes of story time or TV time. When the next step in the process came (usually brushing teeth), the sippies had to go. They then got water sippies in their beds.

We offer sippies about 20-30 minutes before bed. Mine don't usually drink the whole thing, we just let them drink what they can and then they go to bed.

We do a sippy of milk at dinner and whatever they don't drink, I let them have until bedtime. I take it away before we brush their teeth, so they don't go back to it. We really don't have a set bedtime routine. We sometimes read or watch Baby Einstein. Then, new diapers, fluoride drops and brush their teeth and off to bed.

This is what we do too. However we haven't started the teeth brushing yet, so I let them finish what they want while I read them goodnight moon. That's the ONLY time we let them read that book. And, we do it all in their nursery on the floor...DD runs around and doesn't pay attention, and DS is totally attentive and sits like a nice boy and listens. He even kisses the book at the end.
