Hi all! Well i'm 33wks with identical girls and just got put on modified bedrest yesterday, although the doc said to be as strict as I could. I assume it would have been strict bedrest except I have three little ones at home. I'm glad I made it this far without bedrest. Okay, so does anyone know what it means when your cervix is at -2 station? I assume that the fact that the nurse said it was very soft and it was right there (she didnt have to reach far) that I was put on bedrest. Plus I had a bit of spotting and contractions. I got a steroid shot and have to go back in today for another one. Ugh. I was very worried about this because I avoid medication as much as possible. I also got medication to stop contractions should I have three or four or more in an hour. I only have to take it as needed. So anyone know anything good to stay busy on bedrest? I don't enjoy tv much and the kids kind of take it over. The nurse said that I could sit in a recliner and still get up for meals, but was reluctant to let me be up for 20mins to make the kids lunches on days my DH is not home. I guess i'll have to find a good book. I get bored quickly on the laptop as well. Is it okay to get on a desktop computer while on modified rest? She didn't give me too many guidelines for dos and dont's. Well I hope everyone else is doing well, take care.

If you like to read, you might want to think about starting the Jane Austen collection. I'm not much of a TV person either, and I get bored on-line very fast. Magazines are not as fun anymore because I can't relate to anything, i.e. trying new recipes, outfits, sex/men, etc. So I read. I read the books by Bronte sisters and starting Jane Austen books.

I have been on bedrest forever! And sitting at a computer desk is a no. I've taking to board games with my 5 year old. You can still lay down on your left side and play with your other kids. Or read to them or color - I play mario kart with my kid for about a hour a day. T.v. gets lame & there's only so much I can think to look up on the net. So I've done crosswords and read about 5 books. Sorted through pictures watched some educational t.v. so my brain didn't turn to mush. If your'e at 33 weeks you don't have much longer & i would try to enjoy it - your never going to get to lay around again! And as I type try to enjoy it I understand most of us are highly functioning people and it's very hard to just stop - It has been more of a mental struggle for me depending on everyone else. But just make the best of it - write a list of things you'd like to do before your babies come. A very short list but It's a goal to look forward to - good luck

Yeah, I would think sitting at the desk top would be a no-no.
I watched a ton of movies, chatted on TS, organized photos on my lap-top, read magazines, talked on the phone and played games and colored with my daughter.
One thing that helped was I would wake up and try to stay awake during the daytime so I didnt get my nights all screwed up. Good luck! You can do this!

how did/do you know when your doc will put you on bedrest? I am 28 wks & still working. I have b/g twins coming. I have warned my work & one of the docs I work for has agreed to help procure me whatever it takes to owrk from home. I am not exercising much since even walking makes my abdominal muscles ache. I have my 28 week u/s, first stress & ob appt on Tuesday

  6. Sitting is a no-no. Desktop computer then is a no-no.

I had 2 year old twins when I was on bed rest 2nd time around. We set up a bed rest station on the couch with snacks, books, magazines, lap top computer, tv remote, etc. I had my boys take turns climbing up to sit and play with me on the couch (laying on my left side as someone previously recommended). We would color, and play imagination games with little stuffies and plastic toys.

If you like card games, there are some great games like Hearts and Spades that you can play on Yahoo games. That helps to break up the day a little.

  7. You can't really know when -- but you should plan that it will happen. I always recommend that people are completely "ready" for their twins arrival by week 30. Bed rest is fairly common after about 34 weeks with twins. Some are lucky enough to make it without bed rest. But even if you are one of those lucky ones, you will need to take it very easy those last weeks and rest when ever you can. Best to just have all the preparations done.

    Best of Luck!

Hello everyone I was put on modified bedrest 5 days ago. I am 27weeks and 5 days pregnant with identical twin girls. I am allowed to get up 1 hours a day and that is it, and it is killing me!!! I have a history or preterm labor so the doctor is taking every precaution possible. I found out about this sight from one of my friends on Facebook..so I am 42 years old with 4 children already and a beautiful granddaughter. I had my tubes tied during my c-section of my last son 7 years ago. I thought I was going through menopause when the symptoms started hitting me and my neighbor suggested I go see my doctor for some estrogen. Went and found out I wasn't going through menopause at all that I was pregnant.... Ready to pass out he explains to me that nothing is 100 percent and he is figuring that when I got my tubes tied my doctoer at rhe time should have waited a few weeks because when my body went through the healing process my tubes healed back together. Well, needless to say it took my husband and I awhile to get over the shock of this one! Then to add to it he did blood work because I was advanced maternal age and my HCG level was really high sent me in for an ultra sound and HELLO twins!!!! Now bedrest...I am hoping that we can help each other through this because I am going to need it! I will probably be here till the end of my pregnancy. Can anyone give me some advice on how to stay busy during this time?
