We went to the doctor on Monday and both babies are doing fine, however I was put on bedrest 'until further notice' becuase my cervix has softened and shortened to 1.8cm, it was 4.2cm one month ago. His exact words when I asked him exactly what bedrest meant were, "you are to stay in bed and only get up to go to the bathroom." He also did a fetal fibronectin test, I also did my gestational diabetes test, since I wasn't allowed to go back to work I figured I might as well do it then since I was there. I get all of those results
back in a few days and I have to go back to the doctor next week Monday & every week after that. My hubby is being super suporrtive and making sure I do nothing but go to the bathroom. I'm now in the hospital because the fetal fibronectin test was positive, I was admitted yesterday afternoon after being monitored for contractions for 2.5 hours. The doctor said there was irritability and they wanted to keep me in for observation. I did have a few contractions they said, but I didn't really feel anything. This morning they said I'm going to have an unltrasound in the morning to check my cerix and if it has shortened more I will have to stay in, if not I will be able to go home with meds. I also found out that my gestational diabetes results came back normal, so that's a plus! They also came in earlier and monitored the babies for a while and they are both fine so there's no worries with them, we just want them to stay in there for as long as possible.

 Bedrest is very hard, and hospital bedrest is even worse. I was admitted at 24 weeks on hospital bedrest for PTL, funneling and a positive fFN test. You are doing a great job! Hang in there and try to stay positive!

I am in a very similar situation. I was put on bedrest at 24 weeks for cervix of 2.5 cm and funneling. I did also spend one night in L&D for contractions that I did not feel, but they got it under control with procardia and as needed terbutaline. I am home and have been on bedrest for 4 weeks. Initailly I was very anxious but now I reliaze that even though my cervix has further shortned to 0.77 cm, you can go a long time with a barely there cervix. Please take the bedrest seriously. I am very strict and fortunately do not have other children and have family that stays with me. Bedrest gets easier with time. I really don't know how the day goes by, but it does. Your body needs the extra rest as you get furher along and thus it is not as bad as it was in the begiining.

I hope you will be released home soon. It's great that the babies are doing well.

    Best wishes.

    Hi!
I'm new to the site... Good Luck with the bedrest! DO what the doctor says and STAY on complete bedrest. Hopefully, you have tv or books to keep you busy during your stay.... It's long days, but it's so worth it...

    Hi guys,
I'm doing good. I'm in good spirits and the docs say there wasn't any change with my cervix since my last US on Thrusday so that was great news!!! I'm still here and tehy said I'll be here until at lease 28 weeks....they gave me steroid shots yesterday & today to boost the development of the babies lungs just in case i deliever early. I am doing everything the docs tell me to do, which is pretty much to lay down and go to the bathroom...lol. I'm keeping busy with lots of movies, a cross stitch project for the babies and of course the internet and my hubby's bringing the PS2 for me tomorrow!!!!

Thank you guys for all your kind words & support,
    Krista :D

    I'M 28 WEEKS TODAY!!!!!!!!! YAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The doctor came in to see me today and told me that I hit a huge milestone today, they really were unsure if I would make it this far but I did!!!!! My goal now is to get to 30 weeks...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I was supposed to have a US yesterday but they put it off until Monday morning so I'll update with cervix info and of course growth of the babies. They have been doing fine the whole time, I feel them move around A LOT more now and they always have great heartbeats when they are monitored!!! He also told me that they don't think I'll make it past 34 weeks, but then again they didn't think I'd make it to where I am now, so I'm saying I will make it to 36!!!!

    Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!!

Congratulations! That is a huge milestone. I was in the hospital from 24-28 weeks. My cervix at 28 weeks was 0.3 cm (no, I didn't misplace a decimal point). That is when I chose to go home because it keep shrinking and shrinking in the hospital! I was terrified, but made it to 34 weeks on strict home bedrest. You can do it too! Hang in there!!!!
