hellooo! i went in to my doctor yesterday for a regular appt and found that the sac for baby b had ruptured and was sent to a different hospital to be admitted for bedrest. they want to get me to atleast 28 weeks. i was just wondering if anyone knew anyone that had ruptured a sac for one baby and how long they made it. im getting lots of medicine to prevent infection and steriods for their lungs to develop. baby a appears to be totally healthy so im worried about the complications with baby b putting her at an increased risk. jsut if anyone has any stories dealing with a similar situtation i'd love to hear! thanksss :)

I have a friend who delivered a singleton on Oct. 2. She had been in the hospital for pre-term labor and then with a fluid leak. She made it 2 weeks after she started her slow fluid leak. She probably would have made it longer but the contractions got too out of control for her. If you are not contracting too much you should be fine! I am currently in the hospital for a short cervix and contractions. They are always able to get my contractions to slow down when they get out of control. Hang in there and stay positive! My doctor keeps telling me part of why I am doing so well here is because I have stayed so positive! (I'm on day 11 here in the hospital!)

Good luck and keep us posted!

My cousin had this problem in 2002, and she was put in the hospital in the Trendelenburg (sp?) position until the baby arrived. (From like week 19 until 27 weeks).

Just follow your doc's orders and I think you'll be fine! Best wishes!

well yes, I am pregnant with twins and baby A had premature rupture of membranes at about 19 weeks......I'm currently almost to 28 weeks so it is indeed possible to keep them in for quite some time. I also have been on and off antibiotics and recieved 2 rounds of steriod shots. I'm in the hospital on bedrest and have been since week 23.5. Baby A still doesn't have any fluid and we don't know what her condition will be like till delivery...and we are trying to just go as long as possible i do know to help prevent more complications from prematurity. So, hang in there.....its a rough road for sure...but as you can see I've been holding out for almost 9 weeks now.....but I do know that I'm basically like a ticking time bomb...just waiting to deliver.....but nothing thus far. i also have a previa so i've been bleeding anf leaking amniotic fluid constantly. please feel free to keep in touch!

I had a ruptured sac with baby A at almost 30 weeks. I was put in the hospital on bedrest, had steroid shots, and was on antibiotics. I went until 34 weeks and they did a c-section. The goal was only to get me to 34 weeks, but I didn't really have any contractions, at least not strong enough to really feel. Both babies were fine and spent less than two weeks in NICU. They just turned three and other then the odd cold here are perfectly healthy.

    Good luck!
