Hey guys, so we went to the doctor yesterday and both babies are doing
fine, however I was put on bedrest 'until further notice' becuase my
cervix has softened and shortened to 2cm, it was 4.2cm one month ago.
His exact words when I asked him exactly what bedrest meant were, "you
are to stay in bed and only get up to go to the bathroom." He also
tested me for a protein or something that can indicate preterm labor, I
don't remember what it is called.I also did my gestational diabetes
test yesterday, since I wasn't allowed to go back to work I figured I
might as well do it then since I was there. I get all of those results
back in a few days and I have to go back to the doctor next week Monday
& every week after that. My hubby is being super suporrtive and making
sure I do nothing but go to the bathroom. Is there anyone else out
there who is on bedrest or has been through something similar?

 Bedrest is so hard, but I can promise you that it all pays off in the end. I was put on hospital bedrest at 24 weeks (and wasn't even allowed to get up to go to the bathroom!). It sounds like the test you got was a fetal fibronectin (fFN)test, did they tell you if it was positive or negative? Glad to hear your husband is being very supportive. Make sure you follow the Dr's orders!! Good Luck!

OMG I'm so sorry to hear about bedrest but gosh it does help. There are many women on bedrest that have said it helps and have gone thru long term and delivered healthy babies. I'm sure you'll do fine. It also helps your dh is being so great. I'm on modified rest. I can go to work but then only walk enough to get what I need to get done and then in bed with feet up. My cervix is holding at 2.5 so we'll see. I'm living on a week by week basis now. I go Monday for another cervix check.
    GL!!! and keep us posted

Hi... I was put on bedrest at 24 weeks and yesterday at my 29 1/2 week appointment we learned my cervix had shortened and softened so all I am allowed is to go to the bathroom (challenging with a 4 year old). I'm right here with you ((hug))

Bedrest is SO boring but definitely worth it! I've been on strict bedrest since wk 24 (modified bedrest since wk 20). At 24 wks my cervix was .8 cm!!! Now I'm 31 wks and 3 days! It's so hard to do nothing though. Make sure that you have books, tv, movies and other things to keep your mind occupied. It has also been a life saver to have a mini fridge in my room. Good luck and just do everything that you can to keep those babies cookin'!

    Hello-
I was put on bed rest at 24 weeks due to short cervix (6mm....yikes!). The babies were fine inside, we just needed to keep them growing. I ended up with a lot of issues in the 3rd trimester. GD, dynamic cervix, and eventually pre-e, which prompted the c-section.
I was on BR at home. I was allowed to go to the bathroom and take a shower every 2 days. We made it to 36 weeks, and my MFM said he never thought I would make it past 26 weeks. It is possible!! The 12 weeks of BR were difficult and I was miserable at times. But it was so worth it. I'm happy I did everything I could to keep my babies inside.
My twins are 4.5 months now, and have no lasting health problems.
You can do it! Post if you have more questions.
    hugs, Beth

I went on bedrest at 28 weeks, due to shortening cervix. I only got up to use the bathroom for 9 weeks. My babies were delivered at 37 weeks, with no NICU time! Hang in there, it's worth it!

I went on bedrest at 18 weeks! It worked out fine. My cervix was down to about 1.9, had the cerclage
and it stayed at about 2.0-2.1 until about 30 weeks, then started going down.

Delivered at 35+ weeks, NO NICU time, everything was great.

Just keep a schedule. Sounds weird, but it worked for me.

    Hey Kyrstyn,
Yes it is very hard! I went from work to the doctors office and was told I couldn't go back. I'm now in the hospital because the fetal fibronectin test was positive, I was admitted yesterday afternoon after being monitored for contractions for 2.5 hours. The doctor said there was irritability and they wanted to keep me in for observation. I did have a few contractions they said, but I didn't really feel anything. This morning they said I'm going to have an unltrasound in the morning to check my cerix and if it has shortened more I will have to stay in, if not I will be able to go home with meds.
