    hi all,

this is intended to make you smile. i hope it does.

if one more person asks me, "are you still on bed rest?" i think i'll laugh at them. i want to say, "no! actually, i went to a pilates class, out shopping, ran errands, and maybe i'll go for a quick run tonight after i prepare dinner!" lol. what part of, "i'm on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy" don't you understand?

oh, and do you also hear, "get your rest while you can, because you won't be sleeping once the babies come?" i feel like saying, "yeah, because now that i'm completely weak from laying around, i'm sure my energy after that c-section will sky rocket! i like laying here like an invalid...makes me feel worthy." i know...sarcastic, but i have to laugh about it.

and how about this? a friend of mine (who had one baby) said, "i was on bed rest for 3 days and it was SO hard."

anyway, just thought i'd share a laugh with you...hopefully it made you smile. [IMG]

to be honest, at-home bed rest isn't as bad as i thought it would be (hospital bed rest...different story! so hard, and i commend you ladies!). all in all, bed rest can be frustrating, but i know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. [IMG] oh, and i get to watch a lot of tv.

    take care everyone!

Looks like you have made it so far! My Dr took me off bedrest at 36weeks b/c she will not stop labor at that point since there is more risk to babies than just letting them come... so maybe you will really only have two weeks until your house arrest, bedrest ends [IMG]

Oh the rest while you can comment is my absolute favorite. I was telling DH tonight that I am so afraid by the time I have these babies that I won't have the strength/energy to care for them. I get out of breath taking a shower and it exhausts me.
I am only on bedrest until 32 weeks (hopefully going home on bedrest on wednesday since I have been at the hospital for 5 weeks). My doctors will not stop by labor after 32 weeks since I have had the steroid shots.
DH keeps saying just 4 more weeks (like I want to have them at 32 weeks). That drives me crazy too. For all we know, they might decide to stay in until after 40 weeks! (Although I am really hoping they do not!)
I love when my friend tells me about how she was on "modified" bedrest for most of her second trimester. She was still able to go out and do things though.

    hi traci,

you are doing great in the hospital. i commend you, really. [IMG]

i have the same concerns about not having the strength or energy to care for the babies, because of being on bed rest and a c-section. good thing dh is helpful, as well as my mom and sister.

i'm keeping my fingers crossed that you are released from the hospital and get to go home on bed rest on wednesday. it is so much more bearable. keep us all posted. [IMG]

I just want to say that i have the utmost respect for you bedrest mommies: i've been lucky so far (although if DH says ONE MORE TIME "I think you might end up in bed around march 1", i might have to get violent!).....it must be awful.

More and more i think that pregnancy is really nature's way of preparing us for being moms: no control, lots of sacrifice, total exhaustion. Good luck to you all.

thanks, jordari! lol about your comment about your dh. [IMG] i don't think he would like it very much if you were on bed rest!

i'm on bed rest at home, and i have even more respect for those on hospital bed rest.

I still find it hard to be on bedrest, even at home. But I am amazed at how much I am actually sleeping a the moment. Did nt realise I was that tired!!! My greatest respect for moms in the hospital, at least at home I can get up for a snack if I want to.

Oh man, I can relate! I was on bedrest for 6 weeks, with several days/weeks in the hospital. It was hard, and I don't think people who've never been there really understood. I felt so alone and isolated, not many people called or came over or anything.

But other than that, I didn't really get any silly comments like that.

Hello, ladies, I'm new to this website. My name is Barbie Elliott, I am due 5/28 w/ Boy/girl twins (Madison and Mason). I am 25 wks +5, I was put on bedrest at 23 +3 days. My cervix was starting to thin, and when they do the u/s it seems to shorten and get long. They did the fFN test it was negative.

Anyway, I totally agree with you when people say "get your rest now....." I feel like saying, damn i can get rest too w/o being stuck in bed for 24/7.
I was wondering how long you have been on bedrest and why?

I tell myself that I have 1 purpose in my life right now and it's to keep these babies in the belly and growing. B/c i have a long ways to go.

    Good luck with everyones c-sections!!

    take care, Barbie

I'm almost 24 weeks and have been placed on bedrest for a shortened cervix as well, and today I was diagnosed with Hydronephrosis of both my kidneys.
I was only just put on bedrest 4 days ago, but have already gotten a few comments about how now I have a green light to be a lazy bum. Right... like I'd choose to be stuck on my butt all day, taking a narcotic for the pain.
Though it hasn't really bothered me, I know they're just trying to help me look on the bright side. And that is the most important thing. I just signed up on sidelines.org and think that will be a big boost to get thru this.
I think I'd go crazy if I didn't have twinstuff and sidelines!!

Thanks! I was able to come home on Valentine's Day. It has been so nice to be at home, but I am always so tempted to get up and do stuff (I have resisted the urge though).

Barbie, I have been on bedrest since Jan 8 and was in the hospital until Vday. I am on strict bedrest at home right now. I was admitted to the hospital for a funneling cervix (1.3cm) and signs of preterm labor. I am on procardia for contractions and was given steroid shots at 24 weeks to help the babies' lungs mature.

Being on bedrest is definitely a test of patience. Both mine and my DH's. I felt bad in the hospital because he had to drive 45 minutes each way to see me. Now I feel bad because he has to wait on me hand and foot and make special trips to do grocery shopping because I am on a diet for gestational diabetes. He hasn't complained one time, but it must drive him crazy....it would drive me crazy!

Traci-roo -your DH sounds like exactly the kind of caring, loving partner EVERY pregnant woman should have. As for feeling badly (I understand, since I have not been able to do a lot in the house and DH has MOSTLY picked up the slack); I wouldn't feel TOO badly - do you think HE could handle having two babies pushing from the inside for all this time??

I make a special effort to acknowledge my DH for everything he does (although sometimes it gets frustrating), but - men are a simple tribe, and need to coddled a lot, I think! LOL

hang in there. I can't imagine how sucky it is...I'm not there yet, but couldbe, who knows. Right now I'm so annoyed with people asking "how are you feeling" and "do you miss working"
    No shut up people!!!

    hi IVFmommy2b,

miss working...lol. [IMG] me either! it's interesting how the "how are you feeling" comments got to me, too. it's like, "pretty ****ty, but thanks for asking!" do they think we're going to be like, "i feel GREAT! FANTASTIC!" [IMG] at my 35 week appt., i measured 46 weeks...something just doesn't seem natural about that!
