    Hi all,

After spending yesterday in L&D for some contractions that were not painful but were sometimes every 5 min or so, my doctor sent me home for bed rest, at least until my follow up next week. He said they were mild enough that he wasn't going to put me on terbutaline or anything yet, but may do so if they continue. My cervix was closed and thick, and the ffn was negative.

I'm scared, but trying to focus on the positive. I'm sure I'll read and reread the bed rest success stories in the days and weeks to come. Does anyone have a success story to share of early and frequent contractions that didn't make them deliver too early? Does it seem ok that I'm not on meds yet?

So glad I have this forum.

I went into pre term labour at 24 weeks. I was 2cm dialated and 60% effaced. I was put on adalat which is like terbutaline. I was put on strict bed rest and closely monitored, NST's twice a week, ultrasounds every 2-3 wereks. I delivered my boys at 37 weeks by scheduled c-section.

PTL started at 20 weeks for me. I was on terb for all my pgs. I was on bedrest until I had my guys at 33-6. So almost 14 weeks. I had trips to the hospital at 20 weeks and then 27 weeks. They used mag and procardia. I had the steroid shots at 27 weeks too. I was so happy to be able to keep them in that long. Wish I could have gone longer, but with 2 previous c/s's they would let me labor any longer. You can do this! I tried to keep my mind busy. So I bought and watched all the "I Love Lucy" DVDs. She made me laugh and help with curbing the worry....(I had just lost 2 pgs) I spent hours on here and another multiple miscarriage group I joined. The connection to the outside world was awesome!

I had two injections of the T name medication last night and my dr told me to stay in bed for everything but bathroom needs. I am also freaked out and not sure how to stay sane on bed rest. Also I am 25 weeks with my girls, not sure how to deal with it all. I am a control freak and dont know how to ask for help. Especially when it comes to my 5 year old and feeding myself. I also have lost weight the last two weeks, its a strugle for me, I have only gained 13 pounds with the girls. I eat all the time but does not seem to help.
I am finding comfort on this site..maybe we can help each other through this

    Hi Twinkat's Mommy,

I'm really sorry to hear you're having a tough time too. Has the medication seemed to help the contractions? Bedrest is tough, no doubt. Do you have family or friends nearby? Two of my sisters stopped by yesterday and that really helped. Let's help each other through this indeed!!

Thanks to the other ladies for sharing their stories. Those really help!!! I think I just have to trust that my doctor knows what he's doing by not having me on any medication yet. I see him again on Tuesday, and will ask questions about what if anything he thinks I should be taking and why or why not.

I live with my Mom, my daughter, and my honey. My mom is no help she is recoverying from surgery. My honey goes to school all morning and then he is off to work tii after 10 at night. I have two sisters, my youngest sister is busy and she has dropped by once. My big sister has dropped by twice and its nice, I have a Nanny for my daughter. She picks her up from school and then takes her home to me, and then she makes dinner for her, helps her with homework and bathes her. She did get the rest of my house work done so my honey has to just maintain.
I have been sad and overwhelmed and last night I got angry, I was angry I could not chase my daughter around. And it hit me that my daughter is suffering for me being on bed rest and that is not fair to her....so now I am learning how to deal with that. Have you had these feeling yet?

    Hi Twinkat,

I haven't had those feelings yet; I don't have any other children, so that's probably why. But I think your feelings are totally normal and you shouldn't beat yourself up for them! Twin pregnancies are tough, and bed rest is really tough, and I think any feeling you have about it is normal. I bet some ladies who have been there done that will chime in and tell you they felt angry too. Hang in there, Mama. You're doing a great job!!

I had pre-term labor at 30 weeks and then drugs and bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy. I made it to 36w4d. I'll be honest, bedrest was one of the hardest periods of my life but it was so worth it. You do need to keep your mind busy. Get NetFlix. Play those time consuming games on facebook like farmville or castleville. It is a long slow road but when it's all over, it will be just a memory! So many of us have been there and made it through and you girls will, too!

Hi there. I'm hanging in there. Bedrest is hard, but I know how important it is. It helps me to be able to feel like I can do something to help my babies! One thing that has been helping me with bed rest is to try to stick to a schedule of sorts. So I try to watch TV at the same time each day, to read at the same time, to do crossword puzzles at the same time, etc. It helps me to break the day down into pieces and makes it go a little faster. And I keep a countdown of the days until my next appointment, because I like my appointments because I get out of the house and I get to see that the babies are doing well. I saw from your other posts that you're battling some anxiety and sadness. I replied over there. I'm thinking of you, and sending good thoughts your way.

had to go back to the hospital because of breathing issues, I am now on the t medication and not able to use my albuterol because the n medication made my blood pressure bottom out. I am home and resting and nervous because they said that if I cant keep my breathing controlled without the albuterol then I will have to be admitted and stay till birth. trying to keep positive but its hard. I am only 27 weeks, sigh
