Bed rails?

Does anyone have any recommendation for bed rails? And are they enough on twin beds? I'm worried my kids will move too much and fall through the openings or something. I was just going to put mattresses on the floor for a while but I don't want my dog to sleep on their bed...

we never used them. Both boys fell out of bed 2 times the first night, and then never again. To me, they are more aggravation they are worth. Also, I have one that still moves all over the place, but he hasn't fallen out either.

I had bed rails on their twin beds for a little while. They did move around and had fallen out of bed prompting me to get them. Then a couple of times, Cameron would jump on the bed and shook the rails until they'd move out of place. It happened enough times I decided to remove the rails. The boys fell out of bed one more time and never again. I have the mattress and foundation on the floor, They really don't have far to fall and it's highly unlikely they'll hurt themselves anyhow. It freaked them out when they fell but the first time it happened, I just tucked them back in and they were fine. The second time it happened, Kiefer just went right back in to bed himself and Cameron needed to be tucked in. That was that. I found them to be a waste of money to be honest. My husband thought it was a good idea even now, but he'd also rubberize the walls of this house and the furniture that's in it if it were his choice. The boys sleep very well at night, so I'm not that worried. Falling out of bed did not seem to traumatize them or anything.

Yeah I might just stick to mattresses on the floor for a while then, move most of their toys to the guest room and close the door during the day... thanks for the input!

My 4.5 year olds still have bed rails on their beds. The bed is up against the wall and I have a bed rail on the other side. They both move around a lot when they sleep and this helps me not worry about them falling out. I think ours are Evenflo. I have never had any problems with them and have taken them on vacation with us as well, they don't cause me any aggravation at all.

We never used them either. I was really worried about Lauren because she is everywhere, but she only fell out once and that was that. :pardon:

MY DD is a mover when sleeping and only fell out once since but in a big bed just before 2. Even now she never has her head on the pillow when we go in to check on her. We have never used a rail with her.

We never used them either. I actually had some, but they turned out not to fit the beds we'd bought. Each kid fell out once right away (one on the first night, one on the second) and once in the next few months. It was like their brains just needed that one reminder and then it became instinctive. They were both huge squirmers in their cribs, too.

We do still have crib mattresses on the floor next to their beds, because the kids got used to having them there and now won't let us take them away. So if you decide to go that route, get rid of the extra mattresses after a week! ;)

We must be married to the same man.

My two still have them on their beds. I often find them sleeping right up against them, so I have just left them in place for now. We have never had any trouble with them.

My boys fell out of bed repeatedly, they have the convertible cribs with the little half rails at the head and foot and they were still falling out at least once a night. So I took their old crib bumpers (they had the poofy pillow like ones) and put the long one under the crib sheet on the open side of the bed. It's just enough of a hump to keep them from rolling over too far and I imagine it's kind of cozy as well :)

This is what we used with my older 2:
    http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=534602&parentCategoryId=85194&categoryId=85248

It was an earlier version without the ability to slide under the bed, instead it folds down. But it worked just fine. My 10 yr old still falls out of bed when he's in a deep sleep, LOL.

*I* still fall out of the bed sometimes. That's why it's only a foot from the wall.
