I know you all said wait till 18 months, and wow, was that ever true! Just this week she has really started talking. I swear, it's at least one new word a day, and she's taking off with signing. She makes up her own signs for things we don't know the sign for, too. Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out what she means, and some of the words are still one syllable things like "bap" for binky.
One of Bea's first words was "meh-cin" (medicine). Can you tell they've been sick or teething all winter?

Ainsley is scheduled for speech eval next month. She has a gross motor delay and is not yet walking. EI has told me speech is generally delayed when gross motor is also delayed, so not to worry, but still felt she should have an eval. She is still at three words (cat, "dat"(that), and hi), maybe a fourth if you count pointing to her mouth and going "dit" for binky.

It's so cute to hear what words she will say. Still hoping one of them will say Mommy or something resembling it!

    Go Bea!!

DP and I were just talking today about how much Lola has been "talking" lately. All of the sudden she talks about everything. It's so cute.

    YAY for talking.

My ds had a speech delay and was getting speech and EI once a week for it. At around 2 he started talking alot more and at 2 1/2 he wouldnt shut up for 5 seconds [IMG] Now he carries on a converstation at 3 and people are shocked at how well he does that.

Yea for Bea! It's so fun to hear them talking... and it seems to help ease some of their frustrations levels too! And it's so fun to hear their little voices. I'm constantly amazed at what words they pick up. Oh, and ours have the same reaction to medicine... they love it. My MIL thought that was crazy, but when you think of the number of ear infections, chest colds, etc that they have had in the last few months, medicine is probably the one thing that they see most often! You go girl!!! [IMG]

It won't be too long when we hear you saying, "She won't stop talking! Why did I want her to talk!" [IMG]

Thanks [IMG] It's so cute to hear the things she says and what will be the new word today. She says "mouse" and "nose" in a really cute way. We went to the mall today and it was "hat, hat, hat" since so many people had on winter hats.

Yay, that's so exciting! (And how funny that one of the first was "medicine." Mine would ask for Tylenol by name if they could.)

Amy is saying more words now, but I still wouldn't really call it "talking." Kind of like the difference between occasionally taking a step vs. walking across the room. [IMG]
