Yesterday and today, Bea has been really, really touchy. Every little thing sets her off. She bursts into tears and screams about things like I gave her the wrong color sippy, she wanted to zip her jacket but I did it, stuff like that. That's stuff that she might normally fuss about, but I'm talking full on tears and everything. I've asked her if anything hurts, or if she feels sick, but she says no. She doesn't have a fever. I'm really not sure if this is behavioral or if she's sick in some way. I don't know if I should just take her to the doctor and have her checked out. This is really not like her.

Has she gotten her last molars in? My girls have been like that lately and they are getting their last teeths. I give them ibuprofen and they get better.

Before we went to CO at Christmas Andrew had a runny nose for a few weeks. Then one day he was just AWFUL. He didn't say anything hurt or anything like that, but he was just OFF. I was taking Elizabeth to the pedi anyway, so I took him along too. Turns out he had a double ear infection!!! So you never know!

[SIZE=12pt]Oh no Kelly, I'm sorry! I was going to say the same things...could it be molars? Could it be an ear infection? Michael has been like that lately, and it turns our he has a bad ear infection and is now on antibiotics. Good luck, I hope you can find out soon what is wrong with her. :hug99:

I hate the parenting guessing game. You go to the doctor and it's nothing and you feel like an idiot....or, you don't go and it turns out your kid has a double ear infection and you've just won the 'Worst Parent of the Year' award for having neglected taking them.

I hope she snaps out of it for you, or you find out what's wrong and have sweet, funny, little Bea back soon.

I almost going to say the same thing as you did! My daughter is getting up in the middle of the night crying lately because she does not like coughing. She is getting her 2nd molars with drooling and lot of salvia and that explained the coughing.

Let's hope Bea is feeling better and coming back to herself soon.

    Kelly,

No one knows your kids better than you. If you feel that she is off, go ahead and take her to the ped. What's the worst that can happen? They find nothing is wrong and you can rule out any medical possibilities and go from there. Trust your mommy instincts.

This just happened to me a few days ago. Lorien woke up from a nap and was just way off. Not herself. She was screaming and crying and acting like she was throwing a tantrum but over nothing. I called the ped immediately and said, something is wrong she is acting very strange. I thought maybe she had an ear infection or was having some stomach cramping since she had had diarrhea for a week. Turns out that there was nothing medically wrong with her BUT...my instincts were not completely off. Turns out she had had a night terror. She wasn't actually awake although she appeared to be so. This actually happened one time before so now I know what that was about too.

Anyway, I would take her in. Have them check her out thoroughly (including her teeth to see if that's what it might be). Hope she is ok. Let us know how she is doing.

So far this morning she's been OK. We all got off to preschool with no major issues. I'll see how she is this afternoon. Our doctor is pretty good about getting them in at the last minute if I need to take her in.

I'm such a dummy about teething. I feel back there, but I don't quite know if I'm feeling anything. I'm really not sure if she has finished getting her molars or not. I did think maybe ear infection. Last week, she had a cough and then had a fever that only lasted a day. Last time she had an ear infection, she was able to tell me that her ear hurt. I'll just see how she is, hopefully it has passed.

T&T get like that when they're not feeling well but they do the same exact thing when they haven't gotten enough sleep so it's tricky to know what's up. Sometimes they don't know why they're so cranky so even though they can answer questions now, I don't always get useful information from them. I've hauled them to the pediatrician before for one of the "stupid parent thinks their fussy kid must be sick" appointments but I promise, that was all in my head. The doctor was very nice about it.

I hope whatever was bothering her is okay now. Sometimes, they just don't know how to tell us they are sick. Let us know how she's doing this afternoon! :love0028:

Alisha is definitely in the running too!

Kelly - for us, if Alisha is really not feeling well she is cuddly and clingy and a little whiny, but mostly just wants to cuddle and be babied. If she's moody and touchy, it's more likely that she's tired, or teething, or just having one of those days.

    Hope things get better soon!

Kelly, FWIW, I never know if they're teething either. Sometimes I give them Tylenol just for the heck of it, and it seems to help.

This is generally true for us too -- although sometimes I never know whether she was sick or not! But in general, being sick causes lack of energy and clinginess -- being a little monster is more correlated with tiredness or pain.

Bea is pretty much back to herself today. I guess it was just one of those days! We were really worried, she was kind of scary yesterday.
