My girls are constantly getting constipated. I know how to fix it once it happens, I usually give them diluted apple juice and feed them prunes but the problem is then we have full blown explosions!! :bad: Then we are back to square one. Ideally, I would like to find a way to keep things moving along smoothly, but thus far I have been unsuccessful. Please share your secrets with me!!

Keep up on the hydration! I also like kiwi fruit. It's great that you can get them to go easily with the prunes and apple juice though.. maybe you could dilute the apple juice even more and skip the prunes?

I give James half a prune a day. Seriously that's what's worked easiest for us.

pears as a juice or with apples. I make apple & pear puree. They get some everyday and have a BM everyday.

bananas and rice cereal can cause constipation so watch how much of this they are eating.

Also, have then drink lots, cut back on the amount of prunes per serving maybe.

When we started solids, DD got really constipated, and I learned that bananas were the cause, so now I really limit those :)

    Good luck

We just kept doing prunes and juice on a somewhat rotating basis so that they never went more than a day withouth one or the other. That seemed to keep them fairly regular.

I give my girls prunes and/or pears every day. They also get water in their sippies with dinner.
Sofia is regular unless she has applesauce, but Maia gets bound up by just about everything.

Lots of fresh fruit with each meal of the day.

In the juice bottle (4 oz) I put 1 oz of regular prune juice, 1 oz of regular apple juice and top it off with water. Royce has always had a constipation problem, but it's been exacerbated in the past few weeks since starting iron drops.

We are having the same problem with Mason. We've cut back on the bananas, rarely give him rice cereal, and he gets prunes or pears every night.

I give Katie fruits containing pears every morning and we haven't had to deal with Constipation.

A good friend was told to make formula with 1oz. of pear juice replacing 1oz. of water.

So for her that was 1oz. Pear Juice and 5 oz. of water with 3 scoops of formula. It works well for them and to this day she still does it. (The twins are almost 8 months old)

I was having the same problem with my two until I switched from rice cereal to straight oatmeal with pears. Problem solved!
