Ok, how do you bath your twins? Especially if you also have an older child. Right now I'm giving three different baths and it's a pain in the butt! I give one girl a bath, take her out, change her in her room and then hand her to dh to feed. Then I grab the other one, bath her, take her out, change her in her room and feed her. When they are done feeding, I put the one I'm feeding to bed and than grab ds and bath him. There has to be an easier way!!! I feel like bath time takes two hours!!!

We all eat dinner together so we can have the three youngest boys done eating at the same time. Our 20 month old goes in the tub first and then while I'm putting him to bed, DH takes the twins and bathes them. By the time I'm done, they're ready for bottles so we'll sit and watch TV while they eat and then off to bed. So, really it's two baths, but as soon as the twins can sit really well unassisted, we'll be putting all three of them in the tub together.

Well I am not sure how it works with a 2 year old, but can you do this

Fill the tub and have your e 2 year old in it while DH is watching her and wash her hair. Bath one of the twins on the counter in a bathing tub. When you are done, clothe and give baby to DH to feed while he continues to entertain the oldest while she plays with toys or something. Bath the other baby real quick, clothe em and put in a boucy chair for a minute while you grab baby that DH is feeding (hopefully they will be done by then)

Put the fed babie in a swing for the time being while DH is getting oldest daughter out of tub and ready for bed. While you are feeding the other baby.

When oldest daughter is done, you can then both say your goodnights and put all three to bed :D

Phew! that's exhausting just typing about it.

My husband gets home between 7:10 & 7:20 and my girls are usually sleeping by 7:20 - 7:30. My ds sleeping by 7:45 - 8, so I do all three at same time by myself. This is what I do, give or take a few minutes.

6:30: put my ds in tub and let my girls play naked on the floor. Wash ds. Let him play by himself while I floss my teeth and stain stick their clothes.

6:40 put girls in tub on those bath mesh bath hammocks ($6 at walmart) Wash girls and let ds help. Just play and chill.

6:50 get girls out at same time. Dry, diapers, lotion, pjs. ds puts all toys in tub toy basket and then pulls drain.

6:55 ds dry, night-time pull-up, lotion, pjs. Girls lay on floor and watch.

7:00 Bring ds downstairs and set-up his lap tray with snack and put in a movie and give him markers and papers and books until dh gets home

7:05 Nurse girls and dh brings ds up to say goodnight to us when he gets home.

Dh does ds teeth, book, snuggle.

I do a 10 min clean up, get in my pjs and dh and I chill.

Is it easy... heck no! I am sweating and full of water at the end of it, but I have to get it done before they all have melt downs.

I will need to buy bath seats soon... my girls are getting too wigglely in those hammocks. But it stinks because I will only use them for a short time, just until they sit independently.

Wow, that's organized. I am totally impressed! Plus those bath mesh hammocks look great - I need to find some.

Our two month old twins get an idividual bath every other night at the kitchen sink. They don't get too dirty! My two year old dd either takes a shower with me or she will take a bath on the off night the twins don't, it is so much easier for her to shower with me though. I let her bring cups in and a few plastic animals and she is very content to play and "catch the rain".

I dont' know what it is like to have a 3rd child but we didnt' start bathing the twins together until last month after they learned to sit well on their own on the floor.

Thats how it worked for us until the boys went in the big tub together at about 9-10 months. Now at 17 months I can bathe all 3 at the same time in the same tub. There is hope!!

Thanks guys! And thank you Christy for your indepth report!! It gave me ideas how to tweek what I did last night. I think I'll be needing to get those bath seats that help them sit up but like you I hate having to get them for such a short time. Oh well.

I have 6-month-old twin girls and two boys (ages 5 and 3). I can relate to the lengthy bedtime routine! Here is what works best for us:

At 6 pm my husband brings the girls up for their bath and gives them a bath together in the big tub. They aren't real stable sitting up yet, so he lays them side by side in shallow water (and watches them VERY carefully). I watch the boys and clean up from dinner while that is going on. When the girls are done, my husband and I each take one girl and get her ready for bed while the boys help us or play in the nursery. Then I tandem nurse the girls and put them to bed. While I am feeding the girls, my husband bathes the two boys together. By the time the boys are done bathing and in their jammies, I am done feeding the girls. That allows both of us to read and cuddle with one of the boys. I think it takes some practice to figure out what will work best for your family. I like that we each get some "alone" time with the younger set and the older set during the bedtime routine. Good luck!

When I was using the baby bath seat, I layed one on the bath mat while I bathed the other then switched. When they were able to sit up, we used an inflatable ducky tub (from Walmart I think). I switched off then too but occasionally put them in together. This week we graduated to the big tub! I was going to get a pricey inflatable liner, but bought a padded tub mat at walmart for about 9 bucks. It works well and they are thrilled to be in the big tub. I put them in together with about 1 1/2-2 inches of water and they have a blast scooting around like little tadpoles!
