I used to bath the girls in the baby tub on the kitchen counter. Now, they like to splash and sit up and not cooperate. So I tried to do it in the tub with them together which they enjoyed as long as they would sit on their bums. But they kept trying to stand and they kept sliding and inhaling water so I went and bought a bath tub mat thinking this would help but they still had issues.

So, how do/did you give baths to your 9 month olds. How do you wash them? (hair, arms, legs) How do you rinse them? I could really use some tips advice.

Up until 2 weeks ago, I gave them a bath individually in the reclining plastic tubs for babies. They were way too big for it so I needed to do something different. I bought 2 bath rings and bathe them at the same time now. As they are playing, I soap them up and then rinse them off. I take one out lay in towel and take the other out. I am not comfortable with having them just sit in the tub without the ring. I do bath time by myself and I would not be able to catch one if one is slipping/falling.

Do you have a link to a bath ring? I'm sure I have seen them, I just can't remember

My memory is bad but we used the Bath Tub Seats until my son outgrew them. I believe they were in them until about 15 months or so (my son is huge). They were great. They were by Safety 1st and attached to the tub.

One is borrowed from my sister which I like a lot because it is small but I cant find it online and dont know where she got it. THe other is from safety first.

Other one I found on line

My avatar shows them in the rings. It is not the best view but you can get an idea.

We use the rings too. When I'm on my own I wash them and the empty the tub while they sit there and play. That way I don't have to worry about one of them trying to climb out or worse drowning while I towel off the other one. I'm still in the bathroom but they can be really quick these days.

I don't know if this is much help, but DH and I generally bathed them together until they were at least a year old. I just felt like one parent didn't have enough hands to keep them both safe until then.

Before that, if I had to bathe them on my own, I would do one at a time, and keep the other one in the superyard or (if I was feeling brave) in the bathroom with me, but not in the tub. But we only do baths twice a week, so it wasn't that hard to put off the bath till the next morning or night if DH couldn't be there one night.

I've been having trouble with baths as well. The rings on the links provided sound great but one said for babies to 10 months & the other said a maximum of 26 lbs. Not sure what my two weigh at the moment but 26 lbs may not be far in the future. How well do they work for bigger babies?

At their 9 month app. my boys were 20 lbs. They are definately chunky. I can see us using them for many more months. It is currently very easy to fit them in the ring. THere is a lot of room.

Would you consider using a laundry basket? You could put the basket in the tub to make the size a little smaller but still allow them to splash, sit up etc.

I put them in the tub together with no rings and they play with the toys and they stand up and slip down sometimes but I have given up. There's no way they'll stay in a ring so I figure c'est la vie. I am right there with them so no one will drown. They will just have to learn how to be in the tub.

    Love the laundry basket idea!

Just wanted to add, we only have 1 bathroom in our house so when I first bought 2 of the safety first rings, I hated it because I did not want to take them off each time. They are bulky. They arm hugs the side of the tub tightly and is a pain to take on and off. So I was happy to return at least one and get the blue one from my sister.

I think it was around the same age that I had to do something different for bath times, too. I had heard another twin mommy suggest the laundry basket, so I gave it a try & it worked great!! My laundry basket was a little larger, so it worked out really good. Also kept all the toys nice & close so I didn't have to keep bringing them back.

I can't remember what exactly it was, but I think my sister had some kind of problem with her safety ring. I loved the laundry basket....much cheaper, too. :)

The laundry basket is a GREAT idea!! I should have been using one a long time ago, definitely will solve a lot of problems. Yet again, TS comes to the rescue!!! I LOVE this place  !

Naomi - That picture is PRICELESS!!!! You should enter it into a twins photo contest! I'd vote for you :D !

I tried the laundry basket tonight! We dont be doing that again! They kept kicking each other. I did get a great picture though before the kicking began. :)

Also, N tried to get out of his ring tonight for the first time. Not good! <_<

We do the kitchen sink. We have a pretty deep sink, so it appears that we will do this for at least the next several months. DH and I each wash a baby, but it's not that big of a deal if I have to do it myself. I just do one completely (undress, bathe, redress) and put them in the play yard then do the other one completely.

When we remodeled the bathrooms, we got rid of the bathtub since neither one of us bathe and it was more dangerous for us to be showering in a tub (I'm a clutz). I'm not sure how we'll manage when they outgrow the sink!

    This is what I do.

I have 2 of those Safety 1st baby bath seats. When they are in the tub I scrub them down with a soapy washcloth, then rinse them with a cup of water. (I'm careful when I rinse their heads, they don't like water on their faces.) I've tried the laundry basket thing but Sean was freaked out and James flailed and fell all over the place. He thinks the tub is his own personal slip 'n' slide. When I get them out I have someone help me. (Either Dave holds Sean, or DH takes one and we lotion, diaper and dress.)

I bathe mine in the kitchen sink. it is a deep sink, so plenty of room for one baby at atime. I undress, bathe, and hand that baby off to DH, who then dresses that one in PJs. I then undress and bathe the second baby, and i dress that one in PJs. It's not too hard.
I dread when they no longer fit in the kitchen sink, and I have to use the bathtub. My tub is rather deep, and my back will really be aching after all that bending down!
