Right now we use the big baby bath tub inside the regular bath tub. They do pretty well, they still don't like baths too much but it is better than it used to be. We will be away next month for my sister's wedding (13 hours drive each way we will do over night). So they will need at least 1 or 2 baths while we are there. It looks like we won't be able to bring the baby tub as I had hoped. They will be a year old then and they both weigh 19lbs now. Being that they are preemies though, I am not that confident in their sitting since it is still fairly new. Should I just try to wing it in the big tub (which makes me very nervous for many reasons), bathe them in the sink or just do sponge baths like the old days? What would you do?

I would take a bath with them, one at a time, with your husband as an assistant, passing you naked babies and taking clean babies from you when they're done. This is what we did when we went away for 5-6 days this past summer.

When we were away (Grandma and Grandpa's house) and it was bath time when they were new sitters, I would put a wash cloth under their little bottom so they wouldn't slide. One at a time in the big tub. That seemed to be enough to where they could sit, I could get them washed, and no disasters in the bath.

    ETA: fix typo

This is what we'd do. Or if they have a big kitchen sink, plop them in there with a towel underneath them.

I take the non-slip mat next trip. They do well sitting in the tub (the 3 of them together) although my twin girl only wants to pull up. I just put 2 inches of water in there, and put them on the mat. Otherwise do they one by one, while you hold them. I think it should be fine. I wouldn't go through the trouble of taking a tub.

We are actually staying in a hotel, that is where the wedding is. I should have mentioned that before, sorry.

I think washing them one at a time in the tub would be fine. But if you get there and feel uncomfortable with a tub bath you can always do a sponge bath. Just make sure you take a bucket that's somewhat decently sized JIC.

I would bring a non-slip mat and just bathe them in the big tub. Or better yet you could just use one of the hotels towels and lay that in the bottom of the tub to make in slip free. I just put 2-3 inches of water in the bathtub and sit them on the non-slip mat and bathe them that way. Mine sit well on their own but this is the way I have done it even before they did. I would just fill the tub (2-3 inches) and put them in on their backs or bellies and wash them that way before they were able to sit unassisted.

I would put them in the big tub on either a towel or one of those foam mats, and then run the water but don't fill the tub -- just use a cup to quickly wet them down, soap them up and rinse. Sort of a combo tub/sponge bath!
