My boys are flying toward their first birthday. Can't wait to join you all here!

We got a hand-me-down bath seat that I'm really liking. However, I'm having a really hard time guessing when they will outgrow it. If it will be in a month or so, then I'll just stick with what we have. My boys are not walking yet, so it's hard for me to guess how that will change bath time. If they can use the seats for another 6 months or so, I might consider investing in another.

If you don't use bath seats, how do you do baths for your 12-18 monthers? We've had a tough time with wiggle-worms not wanting to sit still for simultaneous baths without the bath seat (even in 1 inch of water). Two baths are a lot of work (as I am sure you all know!)

    Thanks for any advice!! :)

I just always did them together. Around 10-11 mos. they sat in the tub without the seat. I started with water over their waist. The only problems I had when we first started (WAY before walking!) was them standing up in the tub.

I think you have to just go for it or do one at time?

Our DDs stopped "appreciating" their seat at around 1 year-old. We then got a bath mat for the bathtub so that they wouldn't slip around as much. We had a few growing pains with the first few baths, i.e. one screamed her head off and kept trying to get out. But, it was only a few baths later and they both loved it! We have a lot of entertaining bath toys too. If we didn't have the toys I can guarantee that neither DD would sit still in the bath.

I've bathed them together since about 9 months. As pp mentioned, my biggest problem is them standing in the tub. Other than that, they love their baths. I let them play in the tub with toys for about 10 min. while I read a magazine or book. Then, I soap each one up while the other is still playing. Give it a try, I'll bet yours is ready.

I'm the same as the previous posters... nothing fancy, just plunk both of my girls in the bathtub with water somewhere between their waists and chests while sitting down. They play with toys while I watch and squirt them with water, splash with my hands, etc. Every third day I use soap on their hair and bodies. For awhile they tried to stand in the bathtub (one at a time, fortunately) but they quickly learned that bathtime would be over if they stood up, so now they're really good. At the end of the bath, I take one girl out and dry her off and put on a diaper then repeat with the next baby. Baths are one of the favorite parts of the day now!

I used a bath seat with my first daughter and the rest I've not used them. Mainly b/c the bathtub here at this house is curved and the seat won't stick to the bottom b/c of the curving. It's a pain. However, we just remodeled our Master bath with a new tub...used to just have a shower...and so I started to bathe the girls in there when they were 15 months. Yes, they did try to stand, but I was right there and told them repeatedly that they have to sit. Now, I love to bathe them! They play with their toys and they "stand" when I want them to not when they want to! I get them in and out pretty quickly b/c it's torture on my knees and back! It did take me awhile to be brave, and I had to have DH here to take them after they were done, but I did it. Before that I always bathed them one at a time. Now that they are walking well I can just drain the water and get them out and put their towels on their heads (I use the type with hoods) and we walk to their room and get them diapered, lotioned, and dressed. It will get easier! Like I said, at first I was a nervous wreck, but eventually it became routine! GL!

HTH and I think it is easier to bath them together and we make it a fun time (sing songs, play games, etc)

we never used bath seats. If they stood up we just told them to sit down or "help" them sit down. If they didn't listen they were all done with tubs. Now it's no problem.
Although we recently started having problems with Noah wanting to take a bath. Who knows.

I always ran just enough water in the big tub and put them in there together, they loved it.

I had them as soon as they know how to sit up on their own. However, we had a rubber mat at the time for safety. I have stay consistent by telling them no standing up in the bath tub. For some reason I got rid of the rubber mat because it was making it hard for me to clean off those sticker to the bottom of my tub. As they got older at 15 mos and up, they do occasionally stand up but that because they want to put their toys on the corner of the tub to play. I am thankfully that they prefer to sit and play with their bath toys. At 19 mos they tell me when they want to get out of the tub.

My twins usually stay in the tub for half-hour and when they were smaller it was 40 mins of fun bath time.

My DH does baths. They weren't in the bath seats long, maybe 2 months tops (I can't remember for sure). He did them separately with just one bath seat, and once we got rid of the bath seat they've taken a bath together ever since. I'm pretty sure it was shortly after one that he ditched the bath seat, maybe even right before one.

I started putting them in the big bathtub together before their 1st birthday. However, a couple of weeks ago I had to switch to bathing them separately because they want to stand up and its too hard for me to control them both. Once we learn that we sit during the bath, I will go back to bathing them together because 1) its fun for them and 2) it takes SO much less time for me.

This is how we do it too, and have since about 9 months. With lots of 'sit down on your bottom' reminders though!

We have a seat we still use occassionally, but for the most part, DH gets in the tub with one of them at a time. The love it! We tried putting the boys in the tub together just a few weeks ago and James stood up, slipped and conked his head on the side of the tub before I got to him in time. He split his lip open. :cray: Needless to say, the "two in the tub together" was traumatic for me so we've tabled it for a few months!

we do it together in the "big tub". They never liked bath seats so we never used them. Occasionally one will try and stand but they are usually pretty good.

The hardest part is getting them out of the tub and in their jammies! they love to run naked!
