Unfortunately, our kitchen sink is too small for the baby bath tubs and we don't have a sprayer anyways. Because of this I have been using the infant tub on the bathroom vanity.

My girls seem to be outgrowing the infant bathtub, and water is getting everywhere. The bath routine is getting to be quite difficult....

They love being in the water, but I need a better way to do bathtime.

For those of you with DC's that do not yet sit up on their own, how do you give them a bath? What is your routine?

I appreciate any and all responses!

I always used the infant seat in the bathtub with a cup to rinse. It's not so much fun on your back, but it was the easiest for us. Mine were in the infant tub until after they were sitting....then went to bath seats (for like 2 weeks...waste of money for us)....and now happily play in the bath tub. I miss the infant tub days...bathing was much easier then ;)!

We have always used the infant seats in the tub. It's always worked well for us :) .

I used to use the infant seat in the tub or in the shower. I was a pain on my back, but it worked.

We use the infant tub in our bathtub. Fill it up with water, bathe the babies, dump out the water and then set the infant tub on a big towel to dry. It's pretty easy.

Until they are able to turn over from back to tummy, I bathe them in an inch or so of water in the bottom of the tub (I never leave them when I bathe them like this, not even for a second!). They LOVE to kick in the water.

After that, and until they can sit up on their own, we either shower with them or bathe with them (so there's about a month or 2 of bathtime craziness). I just don't want to purchase bath seats when they'll use them for such a short period of time...

I have bath time done in less than 10 minutes most times.

I put a couple inches of water in the tub. I have a towel on the bed and their clothes and diaper. I then lay them in the tub with my hand supporting their head. Takes all of two minutes to clean them. Take them out put them on towel, dry, dress and viola.

Some nights. I get in the tub and DH hands me one. I cuddle and bathe them. That is nice for some nights. Most of the time however, I just do the quick bath.

Mine still use the litlle infant tub at this point, and I do it on the kitchen counter. I fill it and have my soap and towel and washcloths on the counter too. Jammies, lotion, and diapers are on the couch where I always have a little changing area set up. I bathe one and then quickly lotion and dress her. I put her in the swing or something and get the other one. Before I put the second one in the tub I just add a big cup of hot water to the water that is already in it. (I figure they will be bathing together soon and sharing water anyway!) The whole thing takes me 10 minutes, including clean-up. I haven't decided what to do when they get too big....

I don't know what kind of tub you have, but we have a garden tub in our master bath. I bought a Rubbermaid step stool and it on it while I bath the boys. We used the infant tub for a long time and was even able to put them in it together. Before that I just bathed them one at a time. One was in the bouncy and the other in the tub. Now we use this tub that adia2007 is letting us borrow. I had to add a rubber shelf liner to the bottom so they don't fall over, but it works well.

When my LOs were that little I bought one of those yellow sponges and put that in the bottom of the tub. You can get them at Target, Wal-Mart or BRU.

Until ours were sitting well on their own, we bathed them one at a time in the tub with one of us. It was a great bonding time and my husband and I had to take turns being the one that got the bath with the beebs because we both loved it.

Can you put the baby tub into the big tub? We used the kitchen sink.

We do the above but we use the spongy yellow teddy from BRU. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2390251 They love it. They can roll over so if DH can not do it with me then I only bathe one at a time.

This is what we do too, but we also use a tub-length non-skid mat at the bottom of the tub. So, mat (with suction cups), then teddy bear sponge, in about an inch of water. And we have a detachable showerhead/sprayer, so we always wash and rinse with fresh water. So far, they bathe one at a time, but, when they are bigger and sitting much better, they will probably get bathed together on the non-skid mat.

I lay a hand towel in the tub and fill it with an inch or two of h2o and they lay on their backs and splash away.

I have little 7.5 month olds 13 and 12 or so lbs. We use the kitchen sink --- quick 5 min in and out. On the weekends I like to take a bath in our bathtub and them come in with me while my dh dresses them. It is like their own swimming pool. It is SOOOOO much fun for me as well. A must try. My dh has showered them as well.
