My LO's are 4.5 months old and ds seems to be getting too big to fit in the newborn tub that we have. So I bought two of the Safety First tubside bath seats. We tried to use them last night and both babies are way too small to fit in the seat and were sliding out...I guess they are better if the babies can sit up on their own? But then I was thinking if I really do need the seats or not. Once they are able to sit up on their own, I could just sit them in the tub with just a little water.....so I guess I want to know is if the bath seats are worth keeping? And what do you all use for baths at this age?

    Thanks!!!

I kept mine in the baby tub until about 8 months old. At that point, I put them each on a teddy bear foam pad from BRU with a small amount of water. The foam kept their tushies from sliding around. Once they got more stable, we just let them sit right on the bottom.

I never had bath seats. Mine were in the infant tubs for a LONG time (I'd say 8/9 months), then we just did baths right in the sink for a while and eventually moved them to the tub. I just started putting Liam in the big tub about a month ago.

I just bought 2 of the folding seats from Wal-Mart and honestly, I wish I hadn't. Its necessary for me only when bathing both boys together, which since my fiancee works 4 nights a week, I came up with the idea that they each get a bath on opposite nights, and the other baby watches. I put them in the tub seat, but I end up taking them out every time!! I just don't want to hear about spending the money on something I never use!! At your babies age I was doing them in the kitchen sink. We idn't like our infant tub very much, they screamed the second they got in it. I also got an inflatable tub theat goes in the big tub, but it popped in a week., But it did good that first week!!!

I never used bath seats or baby tubs. We used the sink and then went right to the big tub. When they couldn't sit I would lay them in the big tub with enough water to come up over their ears. I would wash one while the other kicked and then switch. Once they could sit, they would do that. I just had to keep the water level low enough so they wouldn't tip over too much. I've always bathed them together and love to see how they interact in the tub- giving and taking toys, face cloths, etc. The rest of the day I am too busy to get to enjoy them, but in the tub they need constant supervision so I get to "play" too.

WE have the safety first bath rings and love them. Then I dont have to worry as they love to sit in the tub and play for a long time. They can reach for toys and each other and not fall over. Also they can't try to stand up like they do without the seats. I plan on using them until they can't fit anymore. We didnt' start using until about 6 mo though so maybe hold off.
