How often do you bath your babies??

Right now we do it every other night. I LOVE bath nights cause the girls go to sleep for the night shortly afterwards. It is sooo much easier on those nights. I would like to do it everynight, but not sure if I should b/c I am afraid it won't be good for their skin. However, life is just more calmer on those nights they get them.

We did every other night unless we had major spit-up days. Now that our twins are almost 16mo we still do every other night, again unless they are really sticky. If you are worried about their skin make sure you put lotion on them. That's what I did and we had no problems.

Every other day here too. All of our boys have extremely sensitive skin, so frequent baths just make it worse.

Join us to the every other night club - barring super poops. Last night I accomplished bath night solo for the first time. Let's just say TG for bouncers!

Yes, when ours were that age, we bathed them every other night.

We bathe every night otherwise my guys get kinda stinky. Also it is part of our "its time for bed" routine.

every other day here too... or every third day if they aren't stinky and i'm too tired

but if you wanted to do it every day and your girls don't have sensitive skin, just make sure to moisturize well and they should be fine.

we're doing it every other day -- but I'm thinking about moving it to everyday -- my boys just get so stinky (they are messy eaters, no matter how much I clean those neck fold - nothing but a bath will *really* get read of that sinky sour milk smell.

We have always given our boys baths almost every night. Not so much because they need it but more for routine. Mine LOVE baths and always have, plus they don't have dry skin at all so it doesn't seem to bother them. They get so excited afterward, they love being all clean and in fresh sleepers (I always put heavier ones on them for bed). I think it is really important for them to have some kind of bedtime routine. When they were a little younger I was too tired a lot to bathe them everynight :(

we started doing every night around 4 months, I think ( or perhaps a little earlier?) I also do it as part of bedtime routine (though I STILL haven't been able to get a book in there, which i had so wanted to!)

When they're as little as yours and you're as tired as you are I think every other night is fine (we did quick washcloth baths as necessary between); but I do like the routine-ness of it all, so they associate bathtime with bedtime.

if you use lotion I don't think it should be a problem for their skin unless they are particularly sensitive.

We give baths every night and we use Aveeno Soothing Relief baby wash for soap and Aveeno Soothing Relief moisture cream afterwards to keep their skin from drying out. The boys have eczema and this stuff works great for them... we haven't had any problems with dry skin from baths every night ever since we started using it.

[SIZE=10pt]We're another every other night family. Not sure once they start eating solids though ~ might go to every night depending on how messy they'll get.

If they are calmer and go to bed easier on bath nights (and if it doesn't bother their skin of course) I would do bath time every night...for them and YOU!

We do them every night and we started a week after they came home. It is nice to have a routine around 'bedtime' even though they don't know what that is yet. It will get them used to it. I use baby oil on them, not only does it keep their skin moist but keeps them warm so they don't catch a chill after the bath!

I have always done it every night. When they were small, I put lotion on after their baths.

At that age, we started doing it every night. It works great as part of a soothing bedtime routine.

Since it's more for relaxation than hygeine, you can use just a tiny amount of soap. I bathe mine in the kitchen sink, and on the side I have a mixing bowl with a little squirt of soap diluted with plenty of water. I just dip the washcloth in that. Haven't had any problems with dry skin. :)

Good to know DD has eczema and they use to bathe every night so I movesd it to every other night but I liked the routine of doing it every night and it helped them sleep better. So i will definitely try the Aveeno.

We must be bad parents because we only do baths two times a week - Monday and Thrusday nights. Our ped said this is fine unless it is hot out or they are crawling. Mine are 5mos. old. We do; however, do sponge baths every night before bed as part of our bed time routine. Although ours do love their bath it has never been part of our bedtime routine. I am sure we will do away with the sponge baths and make the baths an every other day thing when they start crawling. Anyway, I guess I am kind of embarassed when compared to everyone else but I swear they are clean babies!

Every other night....and only one baby gets bathed each night, they alternate -- makes it easier for me! The baby who isn't getting bathed gets some snuggle time with my DH, and then we feed them together before putting them in bed.

I was worried that not getting a bath would affect their nighttime sleep, but thankfully it hasn't....

Add us to the every other night. Sometimes if I am just too darn tired I skip it two nights in a row, but that doesn't happen often. They sleep from 7pm to 6am regardless of whether they get a bath or not. I like the idea the pp had about one baby per night. That seems like it might be easier then trying to get them both done on the same night.

Every night since about 6 weeks old. It's part of our bedtime routine. Some nights it's literally in and out, but that's okay. It's just a signal to them that the day is winding down and bedtime is approaching. Also, since my babies started solids they really do need scrubbing down - last night I found carrots in James' ear!!

We bathe every night so that we have a "routine" so that the girls know it is bedtime. They are 17 weeks (12 corrected). They don't seem to have any problems with their skin. They have a teeny bit of cradle cap that you can't even see unless you really, really look (they have some hair so it covers it up pretty well.) I used this shampoo stuff for cradle cap that I got at Babies R Us called Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns ... they seemed fine when I was using it ... then they were BEARS to get to sleep ... they would scream and scream ... it was reminiscent of the colic days ... so maybe that shampoo caused it?! It happened with Meredith the first night then both girls the second night ... the first night I only used it on M then the second night I used it on both ... that is when it ocurred to me that maybe the shampoo was the culprit ... I don't know if it was, but I am sure not going to use it again. If their cradle cap was really bad, maybe, but you can't even see it unless you are inspecting their heads like I do. Other than that, they don't seem to have any problems =) We use J & J Lavender and Chamomile Baby Bath and Lotion.

If you were worried ... you could just bathe them w/o soap every other night. Just let them splash in the warm water then put lotion on them.

We only bath them 2-3 times a week (dependant on how messy they get). One of my guys has bad excema and the water REALLY dries his skin out, so we limit bath times.

Every night for us too. Its part of the bedtime ritual and they wont sleep without a bath.

    We do the following...

6:30 start feeding each baby a 6oz bottle.
6:45 bathe the first baby to finish 3oz of the 6oz bottle
    7:00 bathe the slow baby
7:15 feed babies the final 3oz and sometime 2 more oz if they want it
7:30 put them in the crib and process their tickets to sleepy land.

    Easy peasy!

Note: I have done it alone many times and it is definitely easier with 2 people. My DW has only given them a bath maybe once. It is definitely a daddy thing in our house...

We STILL do every other night. My girls are fairly neat eaters and never were big on spitting up so I think it's fine.

Bath night is a lot more work for us so I'm going to stick with this for the time being!

Yuk! That neck fold gunk gets pretty stinky! I really try for every other day because otherwise, they just smell like sour milk. I prefer that baby fresh smell!

Don't be embarassed Amy! When I asked the NICU nurse at the discharge meeting "Um, when do I bathe them?" Her reply was "When they are stinky!" Like, Duh!!! I have a spitter and by that I mean she spends most of her day damp (she's so silent about her spitting!). She could use a bath every day, but her skin is dry and sensitive so we mop her down with a wet clean burp cloth a couple of times a day and bath her every other day. My other DD could probably go longer between baths because she doesn't spit up, doesn't rub food in her hair, and stays clean, but I won't have them on two different bath schedules because its too confusing for me.

If your kiddos aren't getting dirty and smelly they don't need frequent baths. -Leighann

When they were little, till late spring, we did it every other or every 2 nights. It was so cold, and I just hated to freeze them!

Now it's a part of our nighttime routine and if the bath gets skipped, our whole night gets thrown off.
