Dd is so very squirmy and will not stay still in the bath, if it were just kicking I could deal but she tries to slide down into a laying position and it is really scary. I feel like I have to hold onto her so hard and I am afraid of hurting her but I am also afraid of the alternative. I already put a towel in the bottom of the baby tub. Any suggestions?

just some other bath realted questions:
Where can I get the Mustela foam shampoo other than online?

How do you clean your baby tub? I mean like with what cleaner?

Do you use the same bath water for both dc? (I don't, only did once when dd projectiled in the middle of ds bathtime)

I bathe both at the same time. We have a rubber bath mat on the bottom of the tub to help prevent slipping because our guys like to stand too. We also have a bathtub bumper that is inflatable and goes around the tub to protect their heads if they slip and a spout cover to protect bumping their heads into that metal piece. When they stand in the tub we just sit them back down again and give them a toy to play with and tell them no no when they get up again. I figure eventually they will grow out of this standing in the tub phase just like they did with standing in the crib in the middle of the night. :D

When my DD went through the squirmy phase, I didn't fill the tub with water at all -- I just gave her a "shower" with the hand shower. It made me too nervous to have even an inch of water for her to fall in....

I bathed them both separately at that age. They were just too squirmy! I still used a sink tub that had a foam mat-type thing in the bottom, that kept them from slipping. I am not sure about the Mustela, but I would guess Walgreens or CVS? As far as cleaning the baby tub, I usually would just rinse and wipe it out after I was done with it every night. I always used the same bath water for both.

The BRU by me is the only store that I have found it at. Even though it is expensive, I usually by a couple lotions and bath soap at the same time.

I empty the water for the 2nd baby. When I take baby 1 out, I place him in a towel and then fill up the water. WHIle the plastic tub is being filled, I dry baby 1 off and take baby 2's clothes off.

I have cleaned it with that clorox that is safe for pets and kids.

Maybe even get rid of the baby tubs and start her off in the sink? Around that time my guys were too squirmy in their tubs as well, so I started bathing them in the sink. Then at around 10 months, I started putting them in the big tub.

I only bathe mine seperatly - they are too squirmy. I only put a few inches of water in the tub and lay them down everytime. They LOVE it! They splash and kick and flail while I wash them. They are so upset when I take them out. I have tried to sit them up, but they don't have nearly as much fun, so we always go back to lying down.

I bathe mine separately. Only when someone else is around to entertain the other girl.

They sell Mustela in Nordstroms and Buy Buy Baby...

try using bath toys. It is the ONLY thing that keeps mine happy and less squirmy in the tub. I mostly just use differnt teething toys as "bath toys" as an FYI

Just bumping this up, wondering if I can get some more responses. Also, another question, where do you store your baby tub?

I bathe mine the babytub and separately. My DD is the squirmy one but I try to make her splash with her hands and play with bubbles etc to distract her a bit. I usually will use the same water but it depends if it has cooled to much I will dump it and repour some new water in. To clean it I rinse it out and dry it off with a towel. We keep it in the babies room to the side so it is close for us.

we bathe ours in a little tub that sits in the big tub. we used the sink for as long as they fit- it was the easiest way to do it.
we also have a mesh sort of hammock that sits in their tub and props them on an angle. it's great and frees up a hand.
we use the same bath water for both, unless the first one poos in the tub  !

we bathe seperately. I use one of the rubber bath mats and put it on the bottom. We are in and out hardly anytime to play. We sing though and that seems to keep there attention on my.
I have bought mustela at nordstrom in the kids clothing section. I think it is also at bath and body works now.
    good luck!

I just hand the babies into DH while he's showering. He washes one, hands them out--I get them dried and dressed while the other one is getting washed. They love it, and the whole process takes under 10 minutes. We didn't do tubs with our DS until he was big enough to sit up and play by himself safely while we watched.

I have a whole dang tubtime routine worked out. I bring the baby papasan into the bathroom with thier caterpiller toy. I lay a towel on the floor and have all their bath stuff ready in this bath basket I have - washcoths, jammies, lotion, diaperrash cream, it's all in there. I bring a baby in and announce "TUBTIME!!!!" and the baby is all smiles, they love tubtime now. One baby goes in the papasan with a nuk and the toy while I strip the other baby down, then fill the tub with water and bubbles, and plunk baby A in and wash him up. Out he goes, dry him off, lotion, jammies, done!! I'm either chatting or singing the whole time too. Then the clean baby goes in the papasan with the toy and a nuk and it's dirty baby's turn. I don't change the water unless one has piddled or something worse in it. Wash, rinse, repeat, then tubtime is done!!! We do it like this every night around the same time so they know what's going on, and only if they are overtired do they fuss while chilling in the papasan, otherwise they watch and smile as I sing and talk. It works really well for us. Although if I have my honey's help, instead of plunking them in the papasan I hand clean baby to him.

I clean the tub with Method everyday cleaner and lysol it.

Have you tried bathing her in the big tub with just a tiny bit of water? You can put a towel on the bottom of the tub and lay her down flat and then she can't slide down. If she turns her head to the side, she'll get her eye wet before her mouth or nose and will probably turn her head back quickly when that happens.

I did change the water between kids at that age. I usually got one baby all bathed and dressed before even starting with the other one or else I'd hand the clean one off to Paul and he would dress her. I didn't bathe them together until 13 months old when my mom did it one day. I didn't even think they (or I) were ready at that age but they did fine so we went with it.

I get IN the tub with them. DH hands me one baby, and I just have enough water to hit the bottom of my legs when I sit indian style, and kinda lay them in my lap-- That way it's MUCH MUCH easier to keep a grip on the little guys and I feel I can get them cleaner than having to work around the baby tub- like getting their backs and bottoms. And then once they're done, I stand up and take my shower (which I don't know about the rest of y'all- but finding time for MY shower is next to impossible- so this works great for us!

Oh, and I do drain the water-- the first one always tends to pee on Mommy.... :nea:

    wanted to add...

I drain, rinse and refill b/t girls. I then rinse down with really hot water and drain well when done. Clean and rinse thoroughly about once a week with clorox cleanup.

Our bathroom is not very big so we store it in the bathtub, and move it when we shower..
