bangs or no bangs?

Funny thing to even give much thought to but oh well...
I thought I always like the no bang look on little girls. I was hoping to grow out my DDs bangs as their hair grew but it just got so messy and clips were not an option b/c they kept trying to eat them. But now that they have bangs, their foreheads get extra sweaty (probably also because it's summer and hot) and I'm not liking bangs at all.
So maybe we'll go back to growing them out and it will taken even longer this time.

    Which do you like more?
If your DD has no bangs, how do you keep the hair out of her face?
    Any other thoughts?

My girls have to have bangs because they have curly hair and it still gets in their face.

My oldest DD had bangs until she was 5.5 years old and decided she wanted to grow them out.

For Emilie now I just putt her hair back so she has no bangs, but as her hair gets longer I may have to cut some, not sure yet how that will play out.

I guess without bangs, at least until the child was older, you would have to pull her hair back everyday.

Right now, Bea has bangs because she won't keep barrettes in her hair. I think it just all depends on the child as to whether bangs/no bangs looks better. I think with Bea's face shape, it looks better when I put her bangs back into a clip, but like I said, she won't leave them in.

I haven't cut bangs for either of my kids. I prefer that look and I think it's easier to maintain. Danielle needs to have her hair pulled back in something all the time because it gets in her face if she doesn't. She has thick wavy hair. Rachel still doesn't have a ton of hair, but it's getting curlier and curlier as it grows in. Personally, I don't like bangs with curly hair. JMHO. I grew mine out when I turned 18 and can't imagine having them again. I have hair like Danielle's but am able to style it so I can wear it down most of the time.

I think it depends on the kid. But right now my daughter has bangs, I think it is hard to get through the "growing out" stage becuase I usually get frustrated with them in her face and then I end up cutting them!

I think it depends on the child. I don't have bangs, and think it is a long easier.

Unfortunately my poor daughter is going to have to always have bangs. She has her dads receeding hair line and looks as if she will have a mohawk her whole like. There is not much growing in on the sides or to cover it up, she will have to have bangs for a while.

She is only 8 months old, and hopefully her hair will grow in. I will keep my fingers crossed.

One of mine has bangs and two do not. Hayley just doesn't look right without them. For Brianne and Caitlyn, I usually just pull the bangs to the side in a small ponytail or braid. Sometimes they just put the hair behind their ears.

Both of mine have bangs and it does look cute esp. when it is freshly cut. I did try to grow them out but they will not leave bows/clips in their hair and it was always in the eyes. Maybe when they are older we will try again.

None of my girls have bangs. My now 8 yr old DD had them until she was 7 and then wanted to grow them out. That was tricky since her hair is very thick.

My 4 year old has real thin hair and I just thought it would not look good so we've kept it that way. DD#3, 18 months, does not have much hair but I will probably not do bangs.

Ours have bangs, because I can't imagine dealing with barrettes and ponytail holders all the time. However, their hair is still in their faces all the time, both because we don't trim their bangs often enough and because the hair just to the side is always curling towards their eyes.

When they get a little older, we'll see if they'll keep ponytails or whatever in. Right now, they let the daycare teachers do it, but not DH or me. I do think bangs are cute and we'll probably still keep them, but they also need something to keep the hair on the sides from falling towards their faces.

I love bangs on Maddie...she has REALLY thick hair and it looks precious with her pigtails. I HATE bangs on Gracie...she has extremely thin hair, and her hair looks thicker when its parted to the side with a bow clipped in it. However, about a month ago, I trimmed their hair in the front and gave them both bangs, b/c their hair was in their face all the time, and they barely keep the bows in for church, much less at playtime. :)

I am in the same position you are! Amanda has bangs but they are getting quite long. I thought about letting them grow but my sister keeps telling me that she looks like a sheepdog. I think I might keep them trimmed until she is a bit older.

I'm just going to let it all grow out. Thier bangs are in there face now, becuase that's all the hair they have gotten. It really isn't a problem as it usally just lays to one side or the other on it's own. When it get's hot out then it's a problem, but already have to put the rest of thier hair up anyways to keep cool. I don't have bangs and mine stay's out of my face just fine.
Really I think it's just a style thing and neither one isn't easier, except in certin hair types.

Me too! I use the 5 1/2" wide grosgrain ribbon bows for my girls. If we are at home, I pull the front back in a small band & cover the band with a 3" bow. My Isabella has this gorgeous hairline with a cowlick & a widow's peak. My sweet Marissa has a regular hairline with wispy hair that stays short around the hairline (when we go out I wet it a little before pulling it back. I have to say- I never take the girls anywhere that someone doesn't mention how cute thier hairbows look.

Hannah has them. I think that they look adorable. She has a long forehead though and so she almost needs them!
