My DD bangs her head, sometimes for an hour, before falling asleep. She's 18 months, and from what I've read it peaks at around then, but I'm not sure how long this will go on. She often has bruises and red spots on her forehead when she wakes up. Does anyone else have this issue?

None of my kids have ever done that......I believe that it is called "stemming" (or something similar to that)......it can be a comfort thing, I would mention something to your doctor just to be sure though.

While he doesn't bang his head, my son Nicholas pulls his own hair or hits his head with his hand when he starts getting tired and as he is falling asleep. I read somewhere that babies who are "more intense" do stuff like that, which is totally Nicholas.
