Okay, let me try this again--apparently I'm not paying much attention today.

My girls love to dance. Especially ballet. They have these little outfits (see avi) they put on everyday, if ballet is on TV, they stop and watch--anyway, I would love to put them in ballet. But, with two, I don't want to waste the money. Should I try this summer, or wait until they are a little older? I am pretty sure they love the arts after they sat and watched the whole first act of an opera with me on TV. I was truly amazed. What do you think?

Many of my friends started their girls in dance the year they started them in 3 year old preschool. So, your girls would be the right age. I do know that the dance classes around here all start in Sept, and run through the year with the recital in May or June. Sometimes they do run week long camps in the summer--basically a class for an hour or so, every day for a week, so you may want to start out with something like that.

I started mine in the fall when they were 2. A local studio offered a tot time class, just to get familiar with the studio and learn a few things. They LOVE it. I would say enroll them now!! The studio we go to gives you the option to may month to month in case it doesn't work out. It sounds to me like they would like it!!

I started Hannah when she was about 3. She took classes at the YMCA. It was really inexpensive, and she loved it!

ETA...I deleted your other thread. :)

We just started ballet at age 3 and they love it. However, I could not have done it earlier without another adult, because the under-3 classes require one adult for each child. Starting at age 3, they go in by themselves and the grownups wait till class is over.

Our rec center has 9-week sessions -- 45 minutes, once a week. There isn't really a formal recital, but the parents finally get to come into class and watch the last one.

    Try it!

Mine too LOVE TO dance and we cant afford classes---but if we could we would do it! There are a bunch of studios that have 3+ classes, but our local arts center offers a creative movement class that is cheaper and more inclusive of other types of dance. No receital to pay for either- then at age 4 they start ballet or tap or jazz.

Check out arts center, YMCA, or studios!

They will love it. My daughter started at 3. It was a ballet/tap combo class but I think they call it more creative movements instead of ballet. Plus recitals at that age are soooo cute.
